Latief Hendraningrat

Biodata

Latief Hendraningrat, was born in Jakarta, February 15 1911, on the family of RM Said Hendraningrat. His full name is Abdul Latief Hendraningrat. He received basic education in ELS or Europese Ingere School in Jakarta.

He continue his study to MULO (equal as Junior High Scool). Then he went to AMS-B(equal as Senior High Scool). He managed to continued his education to Rechts Hooge School (High School Law).Six years before the independence

of Indonesia, he place to gain knowledge in Teacher College in Columbia Unversity New York.

Since youth, he was active as the member of Perkumpulan Indonesia Moeda dan Soeryawirawan. In 1939, he even had the lead troupe Indies in the event the New York World Fair the first in the United States.

In the history of government, Latief had served Wedana Betawi. In his profession,he has also been devoted in the world of education as a English Teacher and support at the People’s University and Muhammadiyah Jakarta.

At the time of Japanese occupation, he entered Chou Zeinen Kurunzo Java, and then enter the map in Jakarta as Chu Dancho in 1943

It was 17 August 1945, when Mr. Soekarno proclaim the independence of Indonesia,he became Red-White flag raises together with Mr. Suhud Sastro Kusumo.

Achievments

After Independence, in period 1952-1957, he became the military superiors of Indonesia in Manila and Washington. During that year, he was appointed as director of army command

staff school. After that he became presidential military secretary. In the world of politics, he had been a DPR-GR in the period 1960 until 1965. And he back to

abandonment of the old world, world of education as a rector in IKIP

The Military, education and social seems to remain an integral part of Latief’s life.When didn’t subjected to the duty of States, he still contributes energy and thoughts with

co-generation ‘45 Java Command Headquarters (MPRD), and willing to be appointed ascharmain of the foundation in December 19, 1948

The Foundation had successfully completed the construction of Two People’s war monument,each in Boro Kulon Progo (Yogjakarta, Central Java) which was inaugurated Vice President,

Adam Malik in 1982 and in Kepurun Menisenggro (Central Java)

Ending Story

Monday night, March 14, 1983 at 21:00, Mr. Latief Hendraningrat died peacefully at 72 years old. In the Central Hospital of the army (Army’s hospital).Gatot Subroto, Jakarta. For two weeks earlier, he had

been threated for appendicitis. Latief decresed left a wife, a son, and three daughters. Last Military with rank Brigadier General and was promoted to Major General,

Latief bodies placed in his house, Jl. Mangunsakoro, Central Jakarta, before placed in TMP Kalibata.
