Programs

Page 10: National Farmers Group

Current Scenario Less than 60% of total Govt.

Distributed Seeds reach Farmers on time and most of them are distributed through either government departments or through individual local village Entrepreneurs/NGOs. Farmers buy 24,000 crores worth of

bad and sterile seeds every year and of the total government quota of seed distribution, 17,000 crores worth of seeds are lost because of improper, opaque and faulty distribution channels.

Proposal We will take the statewide

distribution contracts from the government bodies, and rely on our local farmer village bodies for their timely distribution.

Seed Distribution

Page 11: National Farmers Group

Present Scenario Village Entrepreneurs or Privately-

held Opaque Group are contract partners and warehouse managers for all Fertilizer Distribution Contracts Fertilizer Distribution Contracts in

our country are well over 80,000 Crores every Year

Proposal Banking on the strength of our

Organizational Structure and Span, right from Village Unit, to Block Unit, to District Unit, to the State Unit and finally up to the National Unit, we will bid for the contracts, and hope to take most of them because of our inherent organizational strengths.

Fertilizer Distribution

Page 12: National Farmers Group

Present Scenario Warehousing is either privately

held or owned by Government Agencies. Lack of Warehousing for more than

55% of Total Agro-Produce of the Nation. Loss to the Nation in Financial

Terms > 15,000 Crores Demand in Rural Warehousing > 2

Million Metric Tons Per Annum

Proposal We will establish Warehousing

facilities in every village and at every block level, and setup a mini logistics hub in every district headquarter connected to the Mega Logistics Hub in every state capital based on the tried and tested Hub-and-Spoke Model Co-Operative

Warehousing

Page 13: National Farmers Group

Present Scenario Farmers wait for City-traders to

purchase produce at spot for very low prices Individual Vehicle Owners provide

logistics

Proposal1.We will setup manual raw-produce

cleaning, sorting and packaging facilities in every village.

2.These packed vegetables and fruits will be sold in retail through mobile point of sales and distributed to wholesale buyers by way of door-delivery.

3.We will eventually set up corner shops in urban residential areas for direct to customer marketing of the same, thereby increasing revenues. Agro-Distribution

and Marketing

Page 14: National Farmers Group

Present Scenario1.Indian Agriculture is still

predominantly non-mechanized because of high cost of entry.

2.All Farm Tools, Machines and Implements are manufactured and sold by private players, with direct cash subsidies by the governments.

Proposal1.We will tie-up with Farm

Machinery Manufacturers for Bulk Orders at High Discounts, thereby benefiting our members by way of Economies of Scale.

2.Setting up of Machinery Sharing Facilities amongst Members.

3.Setting up of Machine Workshops for the manufacturing of such tools. Agro Tools and

Implements

Page 15: National Farmers Group

We will tie-up with various Agricultural Research Organizations as Data-Collection Partners, Primary Field Testing Partners and Frontline Research Outposts in Rural and Far-flung Regions

We will also setup our own research labs for basic tests at the village and block levels and comprehensive Research Facilities at the State Level.

We will eventually setup a National Research Facility and enter into strategic tie-ups with international organizations of repute for joint-development and intellectual-property sharing. Agricultural

Research

Page 16: National Farmers Group

We will setup an Agriculture Training and Education Institute towards:

1.Development of skills in the field of Agriculture.

2. Imparting education to people interested in Agriculture.

3. Imparting education to students interested in becoming Agricultural Scientists

4.Imparting Education to students interested in Rural Marketing.

5. Imparting Education to students interested in Rural Finance.

6.Running a Rural Supply-Chain Management Course amongst many others

The intention to do this is manifold –Our country still has more than 50% under-nourished population, and a very undeveloped agricultural infrastructure. The demands for agro-professionals will only increase. Agriculture

Education Institute

Page 17: National Farmers Group

We will be setting up a professional 24/7 Multi-Lingual Call Center for Farmers with the said objectives:

1.They will guide farmers with plant, fertilizer, seed, tools and other information.

2.They will take orders from farmers for product sourcing.

3.They will manage inventory and arrange for logistics and state-wide coordination.

4.They will assist farmers in times of emergency, including medical emergency pertaining to Fauna and Humans.

5.We will assist and work as a bridge between individual farmer SHGs from one part of the country to the other.

6.Will be instrumental in functioning as a facilitator between farmers and the Govt.

Agro-Practices Awareness Tours

Page 20: National Farmers Group

Aquaculture is an inseparable component of Holistic Agricultural Practices. Aquaculture, Cattle Rearing, Farming and Horticulture are much too deeply interconnected to be separated.

We propose the following:1.Identification, Tabulation and

Registration of all Water Bodies and Prevalent Aquaculture Practices.

2. Identification of potential new varieties of Aquatic Flora and Fauna for farming.

3.Channelizing Appropriate Government Funding and other resources to Farmers transparently.

4.Development of Aquaculture Cooperatives and Direct-to-Customer Approach

5.Development of opportunities for Intra-state and Export Trade Aquaculture

Development

Page 21: National Farmers Group

Apiculture, or Beekeeping is an inseparable component of optimum holistic agricultural best practices. Apiculture has the following

advantages:1.Beekeeping significantly increases

natural pollination, increasing crop density.

2.Beekeeping has been found to produce better quality crops.

3.Beekeeping is a highly rewarding economic activity, for Honey, Wax, Royal Jelly and Pollination Services

Our Proposal1.We will increase awareness for

Beekeeping2.We will do Apiculture Workshops and

Training Programs.3.We will enable and equip farmers to

practice Beekeeping Apiculture Development

Page 22: National Farmers Group

Agroforestry is the practice of combining farming with forestry. Agroforestry is highly advantageous in that it functions as Wind-breaks, provides optimum shade and functions as an optimal agent in groundwater retention.

Agroforestry, the Advantages:1. It increases groundwater retention and

maintains soil quality.2. Functions as Wind-breaks, thereby

increasing farm productivity.3. Provides financial benefits through

Timber, Rubber, Aromatic Oils and Essences.

4. Provides for natural habitats for Bees and other Fauna which are profitable.

5. Fruit trees can be planted as part of agroforestry, leading to more profits.

Our ProposalWe propose to carry out awareness campaigns and facilitate farmers in setting up cooperative Agroforestry as well as individual ones. We will provide tools and seeds and expertise for the same.

Despite numerous organizations –government and non-government – working in the field of horticulture promotion, this sector is still a lot far behind than its achievable potential. Problems Plaguing Horticultural

Growth:1.Logistics facilities2.Awareness3.Lack of Marketing4.Lack of high quality resources

required for Production. Our ProposalWe will be utilizing our organizational capacity in promotion of horticultural activities, processing of horticultural produce, and direct marketing of such items. Horticulture

Development

Page 24: National Farmers Group

Farmers need to be united, apolitically. There is a severe dearth of Agricultural co-operatives of a state-wide and nation-wide reach, but which function as local organization for their members when needed.

Our Proposal1. Taking up seed distribution contracts on a

state-wide and nation-wide scale.2. Taking up commissioning of Rural

Warehousing Projects based on Govt. Grants.

3. Redressal of Farmer Issues and lobbying of Farmers’ interests.

4. Taking up Fertilizer Distribution and Mandi Contract Facilitation.

5. Taking up Watershed Development, Sanitation, Healthcare, CAMPA and all other government policies, programs and grants aimed at farmers and Rural Regions.

6. Launching of new development programs for rural regions with Govt. Support.

Inter-Government Dialogue Facilitation

Agro-Tourism is a very new concept for our nation, with just two implementation in the whole country, and none in the state. It involves bringing tourists to villages to enjoy the clean and simple, yet charming lifestyle of Village and Agricultural life. It is very popular in developed nation

amongst a mainstream of travelers who yearn for offbeat experiences and primarily seek relaxation and reconnection with nature and its pristine standard of living. Our Proposal:1.We will set up 4 Agricultural resorts

in the state at predetermined strategic locations with good logistical connectivity and a variety of recreational activities.

2.We will promote natural health treatment facilities at these resorts.

3.Stress on local fresh organic produce and a development of tourism-based income.

Agro Tourism

Page 26: National Farmers Group

Maximizing Farmer Profits through the following:

1.Establishment of self-owned Urban Retail Outlets for the benefits of both the Sellers and Buyers and facilitating better quality and fresher goods to consumers.

2.Supply into Supermarkets on Contract basis.

3.Supply to Commodity Purchasing companies who are end consumers.

4.Entering into strategic tie-ups with prime location shops in Urban Areas for sale.

5.All goods will be brought in thoroughly cleaned and conveniently packed.

6.Higher profits for consumers.7.Government grants for Logistics

capability buildup and setting up of resources.

8.These Urban Agro Outlets will serve as a launch platform for future entry into processed goods manufactured by our organization.

Urban Direct Agro Shops

Page 27: National Farmers Group

Current Scenario:1. Vegetables reach Wholesale markets after

48 hours of harvesting, from where, they reach retail markets in another 24 hours, and from there, to street vendors on hand-pushed carts and bicycles in another 12 hours.

2. The produce reaches the consumer after at least 72 hours of harvesting, in an unclean, raw state. No pre-cleaning, foliage removal, packaging is done.

Our Proposal:1. We will deploy a fleet of motorized open

carts which will be stocked by processed supplies from our village processing centers through our logistics management unit. Each of these motorized carts will cater to consumers directly on a urban-locality basis.

2. These carts will carry different varieties of produce in packaged avatars which will be supplied through the chilled trucks plying from processing and packaging centers in the villages to urban centers outskirts. The harvesting to delivery time will be no more than 18 hours.

Urban Direct Mobile Agro Shops

Page 28: National Farmers Group

Present Scenario1. State-provided health insurance and

cashless hospitalization system, but fraught with problems and inn-execution

2. State provided Ambulance Facilities which are chargeable, and poorly executed.

Our Proposal1. We will be using the toll-free helpline to

address the grievances of our members and public at large and thereafter co-ordinate with the respective agencies.

2. We will also be appointing a permanent officer from our organization at the prominent hospital in the region, who will facilitate the reddressal of all problems being faced by our members.

3. We will setup village clinics and train selected people to impart primary healthcare through Ayurveda, Homoeopathy and basic Allopathy, including using telemedicine.

COOPERATIVE HEALTHCARE

Page 29: National Farmers Group

Our Proposal:1.We will purchase goods from non-

member Farmers on a weeklong credit term and market it through our marketing outlets.

2.We will also acquire Poultry and other livestock from independent producers, in either fresh or processed states, and thereafter supply to our domestic clients or export clients.

3.We will setup dedicated processing facilities and packaging units.

4.We will work towards development of our Brand and works towards brand recognition amongst the consumers.

5.We will acquire certifications from global certifying bodies towards product quality and delivery.

6.We plan to setup our own Aquaculture and Poultry based 100% EOUs.
