e-ID = the citizens’ missing component to complete the cycle of
reporting, authorizing and signing vis-à-vis governmental entities
e-ID = two electronic certificates: Certificate identification & Certified e-
Signature, both of which support the ultimate identification of the citizen
Using e-Signature, a private citizen or commercial business can
remotely sign forms and reports
Infrastructure established for the issuance of electronic certificates in e-
Government applications and features
Combining the e-ID in e-Government services, with an emphasis on
personal G2C, G2B and vice versa

A Public Key Infrastructure consists of:
A Certificate Authority (CA) that issues and verifies each digital certificate.
A certificate includes the public key or information related to the public key
A registration authority (RA) that acts as the verifier and confirmation of
approval for the Certificate Authority before a digital certificate is issued to
an applicant
One or more directories where the certificates (with their public keys) are
held
A certificate management system
