1. International

a. United States has recorded 61,067 new COVID cases in last 24 hours.

b. Brazil has surpassed 1.7 Mn COVID cases with over 69,000 deaths.

c. Philippines’ Health Ministry reported 2,539 new COVID cases, marking the

biggest single-day increase.

d. Wearing face masks has been declared mandatory outdoors by New Jersey as

US outbreak widens.

e. International Labor Organization Chief has said that COVID has plunged the

world of work into “unprecedented crisis”.

f. Australia has imposed a new lockdown in Melbourne due to surge in COVID.

g. Serbian Government has re-imposed a weekend curfew despite protests.

h. Harvard and MIT universities have approached court to block order for revoking

visas for foreign students whose classes have shifted online.

i. Italy has called for new travel restrictions for passengers travelling to EU from

outside the bloc countries to contain COVID spread.

j. German Chancellor has urged for greater EU unity in face of COVID crisis.

k. Britain’s Finance Minister has announced an additional 30 Bn pounds to reduce

unemployment crisis.

l. Turkey’s industrial production has contracted 22.5% in May due to economic

standstill amid COVID crises.

2. National

a. PM Imran Khan has inaugurated Infectious Diseases Hospital in Islamabad

built by FWO in just 40 days; the hospital has been equipped by NDMA.

b. PM Imran Khan has urged citizens to follow SOPs during Eid ul Azha.

c. WHO has lauded efforts of Balochistan government for COVID awareness.

d. NCOC has formed a committee under Interior Minister to prevent spread of

disinformation and fake news about COVID on social media.

e. Dr Sania Nishtar has said that Government of Pakistan has launched a web portal

for the convenience of EHSAS Emergency Cash applicants.

f. Punjab Healthcare Commission has approved PCR testing laboratory

established at University of Agriculture Faisalabad.

g. Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA), National Institute of Health (NIH) and

Health Research Advisory Board (HealthRab) have jointly launched a country-

wide survey to examine the dynamics and nature of the COVID crisis in

Pakistan.
