hardt sakHardt Sak is a mobile laptop stand. This provides users with a flexibility not currently offered by allowing the use of a laptop stand where and when it is needed most. Features of the bag include a hard shelled body that can expand to hold multiple items. It doubles as a laptop stand when the padded strap is unbuckled and removed. As a bag, the hard shell protects your laptop from the environment. As a stand, it protects your lap from excessive heat which can lead to Toasted Skin Syndrome among other health-related issues. Hardt Sak also raises the screen’s height to prevent craning of the neck and promote good posture.

research

problem

Through observation, it was made clear that the majority of laptops are used in a multitude of locations. Therein lies a second need: transportation. Almost every laptop user dedicated a bag in combination with a padded case for transporting their laptop.

Excessive heat from laptops and craning of the neck due to low screen height are two major health risks associated with laptop usage.

final prototype

Hardt Sak has the ability to temporarily convert to a backpack, increasing functionality. It can now accommodate a larger user group that require hands free mobility. People that utilize bicycles as their main form of transportation make up a large portion of this constantly growing user group.
