Sure-shot NATA SAMPLE/GUESS PAPERS Today there are several guides available in the market for mathematics and science subjects but none for architecture aptitude tests covering the syllabus of NATA . These Sure-shot NATA SAMPLE/GUESS PAPERS have been prepared to bridge the gap especially for those candidates who have no access for personal coaching. It took many years to complete this handbook and hundreds of students were interacted before putting this handbook into final shape. The work of the architect is to help bring people, their structures, activities, and communities into harmonious relationship with the living earth with the want-to-be of the land. 5. IMPORTANCE OF ARCHITECTURE Architects are playing an increasingly important role in solving the great issues of our day, such as dealing with climate change and providing sustainable communities. They are working on urban regeneration and master-planning projects, tackling environmental hazards, designing Olympic sites, and creating the public squares, parks and streets we all use.It is perhaps simplest to say that architects create places for people to live, work and enjoy, and places for plants and animals to thrive. Architects also speak up for the care and preservation of our landscapes. 6. APTITUDE In the exam of NATA & other B.Arch Entrance exams this is the only thing which is asked and accounted that a student who is going to study architecture has a proper sense of visualization and can he transform his ideas on to paper as well as his observation of various objects which he observes in day- to-day life .Creativity is not given in books. It is done with visualization and it is only Architect whose visualization is transformed in reality in terms of buildings. 7. CREATIVITY Architecture is related with creativity and creativity cannot be taught or learnt .Its a study of visualization and that's what we teach in our academy the correct way to visualize and analyse the subject and questions and how to transform a students innovative ideas on to paper . 8. NATA Test The test measures aptitude of the candidate through two sections a paper based section for drawing and computer based section for aesthetic sensitivity. A paper based drawing test and computer based online aesthetic sensitivity test.Drawing Test Contains 3 questions 100 Marks 2 hoursComputer based objective test 40 Questions 100 marks 1 hour approx . 9. DRAWING TEST This is a two hour paper where candidate has to attempt three questions. The drawing aptitude is judged on the following aspects Ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually appealing manner. Visualising and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings. Sense of perspective drawing. Combining and composing given three dimensional elements to form a building or structural form. Creating visual harmony using colours in given composition. Understanding of scale and proportions. Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences. 10. DRAWING TEST The primary emphasis in scoring the drawing section is on the candidates drawing, imagination and observation skills. The candidates sense of proportion & perspective is also evaluated together with sense for colour and composition.Creating interesting two dimensional composition using given shapes and Form Creating visual harmony using colours in given composition. Understanding of scale and proportions. Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences. 11. DRAWING TEST SCORING PROCESS The Answer to each question in the drawing paper will be examined by a panel of three examiners independently and the marks are averaged. It may be further subject to moderation. 12. AESTHETIC SENSITIVITY TEST This is computer based test where candidate has to answer 40 multiple choice questions. The aesthetic sensitivity test measures perception, imagination and observation, creativity and communication along with architectural awareness and comprises of Visualising three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings. Visualising different sides of three dimensional objects. Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities. Analytical reasoning. Mental Ability. Imaginative comprehension and expression. Architectural awareness. 13. AESTHETIC SENSITIVITY TEST The candidates score will depend on his / her performance on the questions given and on the number of questions answered in the time allotted. This section is computer adaptive, meaning that the computer selects questions based on the candidates performance on preceding questions (When correct answer is given, next question will be of higher difficulty level whereas, if wrong answer is given next question is of lower difficulty level) and on the requirements of the test design. Test design factors that influence which questions are presented to the candidate include: The statistical characteristics (including difficulty level) of the questions already answered. The required variety of question types. During the computer based test, with adaptive testing, an examinee is administered a set of questions with a difficulty level that is specifically designed to match the examinees ability level. The mathematical process for calculating a score in this situation incorporates the statistical properties of the questions, the examinees performance on the questions, and the number of questions that are answered. 14. AESTHETIC SENSITIVITY TEST The per second countdown begins 30 seconds before the allotted time for that question ends. In case no answer is offered till the time ends, the question is skipped and next question appears. There is no Negative marking in this test.NO REVALUATION IS POSSIBLE FOR EITHER OF THE TESTS 15. ARCHITECTURE SCHOOLS Presently the number of schools offering five years B. Arch. Degree course in the country are approximately 337 and admission to the course in all schools of architecture is compulsorily through aptitude tests. The syllabus and pattern of the tests are prescribed by Council of Architecture. 16. When to apply? The Test can be written on any day as the applicant wishes after getting appointment from approved test centre, as per NATA schedule, given on www.nata.in . It is suggested that instead of rushing to apply for registration without preparation you should prepare well for this entrance exam. A person can apply at anytime during this period. 17.
