THE GREAT CONTROVERSY ON NASA MOON LANDING
Prepared By: Sagar Kumar
The Apollo Missions :
Designed to land humans on the Moon and bring them safely back to Earth
Six of the missions (Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 17) achieved this goal
Apollo 7 and 9 were Earth orbiting missions to test the Command and Lunar Modules
Apollo 8 and 10 tested various components while orbiting the Moon
Apollo 13 did not land on the Moon due to a malfunction
Some Known facts : APOLLO 11 Lunar Module : “ Eagle “ Command Module : Columbia Crew : Neil Armstrong , Commander Edwin Aldrin , Lunar Module
pilot Michael Collins, Command Module pilot
Continued…..
Launch : July 16 , 1969 Kennedy Space Center
Landing : July 20 , 1969 Sea of Tranquility
First Step : July 21 , 1969 Returned Earth : July 24 , 1969
“ That’s one small step for men and a gaint leap for
mankind “ Armstrong and Aldrin were the
first astronauts to successfully land the Lunar Module (LM) Eagle on the Moon .
Collins orbited in the Command and Service Module (CSM) Columbia.
From Where it all Started :
THE CONTROVERSY Bill Kaysing claimed that the chance of a successful landing on the moon was 0.0017% , this information appears to be a report prepared by the Rocketdyne company in the late 1950s
Every Apollo mission before number 11 was plagued by about 20,000 defects apiece
in 1968, Stanley Kubrick, making his masterpiece, “2001: A Space Odyssey” before the moon landing in 1969
Continued…..
US - Russian ( then USSR ) hurdle to win the space race . Since Russia had already send a drone to moon in 1959
In 2001 , Fox television network broadcast :
Conspiracy Theory: Did We Land on the Moon?
which claimed NASA faked the first landing
Ten reasons that moon landing could be a hoax…
THE WAVING FLAG
NASA COUNTER : Flag was stored in thin tube & so ripple effect caused this waving flag effecct
The lack of impact crater
NASA COUNTER : The surface of moon itself is rock solid, so a blast crater probably wouldn’t be feasible anyway….
Multiple light sources
NASA COUNTER : Due to uneven landscape on strange shadow
The Van Allen radiation belt
NASA COUNTER : The short amount of time it took the astronauts to traverse the belt
The unexplained object
NASA COUNTER : The poor quality of photographs. So the object remains still unexplained
Slow motion walking and hidden cables
NASA COUNTER : Hidden cables and wires are suggested to give astronauts extra height
Lack of stars
NASA COUNTER : The quality of photograph washes them out
The C rock
NASA COUNTER : It may simply have been a stray hair which got tangled up somewhere in developing process
The layered cross hairs
NASA COUNTER : The cameras used by astronauts during moon landing had a multitude of cross-hairs to aid with scaling and direction
The duplicate backdrop
NASA COUNTER : Since the moon is smaller than Earth horizons can appears significantly closer to human eyes
THANK YOU
