Applications are available every April for the following academic year. Applications are at the SSS Building, 1300, office 1333, Financial Aid/EOPS Office, Admissions and Records, Learning Services, Counseling Center and via the NVC SSS TRiO webpage: www.napavalley.edu/studentservices/sss. If you are an instructor/counselor who identifies a student whom you believe may benefit from our services, please refer them to our office. We will screen for federal guidelines to determine eligibility.
The grant requires that applicants must meet the following criteria set by the U.S. Department of Education:
Be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident
Be within Federal income guide-lines and/or
Neither parent or guardian has graduated from a four-year college.
Candidates must also:
Provide required income and residency verification
Sign an agreement to participate fully in the program.
Be in good academic standing
Earn a degree or certificate and transfer to a 4-year institution

Student Support Services (SSS) TRiO is a federally funded grant program dedicated to help-ing 180 Napa Valley College students. The program serves income eligible, first generation students and students with disabilities according to ratios and guidelines set by the federal government. Students must earn a degree or certificate and transfer to a four-year institu-tion. Eligible students who are committed to their college education and willing to partici-pate will be offered enriched services designed to help them meet their educational goals.

Academic Advising An education plan leading to graduation and transfer will be created and updated with a qualified counselor. Counseling Academic and supportive counseling; early assistance for registration; follow-up on mid-semester progress reports. Academic Mentoring We offer peer tutoring and try to accommodate all subject area needs. Financial Aid Advising & Economic Literacy Assistance filling out applications for FAFSA etc. Understanding money management. Scholarship searches.
College Transfer Individual planning for admission, application, and transfer to a four-year colleges and universities. Field trips to four-year campuses. Assis-tance on writing personal statements. Social & Cultural Activities Participation in theatre, multicultural and academic events. Counseling Class: Every semester the SSS staff teaches a 6 week course on College Success. This is an mandatory requirement of all new students who join the SSS program.
