Advantages of Silver Nanowire Technology

Silver (Ag) is the most conductive material on the planet, which allows for minimal light interference, low haze, extreme flexibility and exceptional transmission. That’s why our FLEXX Films are constructed using our proprietary Ag nanowire technology. It offers significant advantages over higher cost ITO products that are rigid, brittle and tend to crack over time. In comparative testing, FLEXX Films were far more durable than ITO and other TCF technologies. Moreover, FLEXX Films are readily available, low cost and withstand environmental extremes.

Still, we continue to innovate, driving toward even better nanowires with improved electrical and optical properties. Today, we are committed to developing next-generation Ag nanowire-based FLEXX Films with extremely thin nanowires and ultra-low haze that enable the next big innovations in touch and printed electronics.

Highly Specialized Roll-to-Roll Processing

Carestream manufactures our FLEXX Films entirely in-house using our highly specialized, continuous, precision roll-to-roll coating process. We don’t use an inefficient vacuum batch process, which makes our films more economical than ITO — or any other transparent conductive film alternative.

No deposition chambers or vaporized metals are used, and there is virtually no wasted material. In fact, our manufacturing times are at least half of the ITO process. Plus, our roll-to-roll coating process is so flexible it accommodates a wide range of base substrates.

Exceptional Performance and Flexibility

Our FLEXX Films provide the ultimate combination of extreme flexibility, low cost, high transmission and low resistance. Exceptionally pliable, these films are highly suited to foldable or rollable devices. Our films typically cost significantly less than other technologies and they can lower overall processing costs. Since FLEXX Films are intended to be a drop-in replacement to an existing manufacturing line, there is little to no additional capital investment.

With superior broadband light transmission and greater optical clarity than other products, FLEXX Films offers increased brightness, brilliant color, extended battery life and consistent transmission over time. They are also capable of achieving low resistances of 100 and 60 ohm/sq, which makes our films ideal for all touch panel sizes — even larger formats.
