bell has written for several legal and personnel publications and has lectured
xtensively on a variety of employment matters. She regularly presents training
essions for justices and judges, including the Council of Chief Judges,
epresentatives of the United States Courts and the Justices of the California
upreme Court, California Courts of Appeals, and the Connecticut andWashington judiciaries on employment issues.
rior to studying law, Ms. Abell was the Supervisor of the City of Los Angeles
ffirmative Action Unit and a member of Mayor TomBradley’s Affirmative Action

raduated first in her class from Pitzer College of the Claremont Colleges in
972. She graduated Order of the Coif and Order of the Barristers from the
CLA School of Law in 1979. While there, Ms. Abell was co-winner of the
oscoe Pound Moot Court Competition, a member of the National Moot Court
eam and an extern clerk to the Honorable Shirley Hufstedler, United States
