IntroductionThebestof theAqeedah is toknowAllah.There isahadithof theProphetSAWthat, “ IndeedtoAllahbelongs99namesandwhoevermemorizethesenames,understandsthesenames,actsuponthesenames(fromtheperspectiveofknowingAllah)(i.e.thenamesofAllahshouldeffectonyou)thensuchapersonwillenterParadise.WeneedtotakethenamesofAllahfromtheQuranandtheSunnah.“NamesofAllah”isthecoreofourbelief.WeneedtoknowaboutourcreatorasknowingAllahisnotonlythewaytoParadisebutitisthewaytoourhappinessinthislife.KnowingAllahtellsushowAllahisdealingwithusandhowweneedtodealwithmycreator

MeaningofthenameAllah

TherearefourmeaningsofAllahinthelanguage:

1. TheOnewhodeservesourworship,ourprayer,TheOneweinvoke,TheOneweruntoandTheOnewhomneedtogoaroundHiminourlife.

2. TheOnewhomweruntointimesofdifficulty,calamityanddistressbecauseHeisourrefugeandourplaceofsecurity.

3. TheOnewho is lovedandmagnified.TheOnewhohas thebestqualities thatpeople loveHim.WhenweloveAllahwewillnothaveanyattachmentinourheartexceptHim.Hisloveinourheartmakesus self-sufficient.We loveeveryoneoutofour love forAllah.He is full ofperfectionandtherearenofaultsinHim.TheloveofAllahdominatesone’sheart.AllahgaveusthehearttoloveandtomagnifyHim.

4. TheOnewhodominatesoroverpowersoutofHisbeauty,perfectionandgreatness.We cannotencompass or surround Him. Our minds cannot reach His Greatness. Allah is above all theexplanations.

Allahdeservesallourworshipanddevotion,ourprayer,sacrificeandvowshouldbeforAllah.Whenweinvokewe should invokeAllah. (weneed topray, sacrificeand invokeonlyAllah).WhenwesayAllah

with belief then Allah is able to increase something that is little. This is why when we eat we saybismillah.IfsomeoneisindistressandinadifficultsituationandhetakesthenameAllahthenAllahwillreliefhimofthestress.ThenameAllahissopowerfulthatitcanbreakirone.g.Inoneofthebattles,ProphetSAWwasrestingunderatreeandadisbelievercameandgothisswordandwantedtokillhim.TheProphetSAWwokeupcalmly,thenthedisbelieveraskedtheProphetSAW,”Whowillsaveyoufromme?”TheProphetreplied“Allah”.Hearingthistheswordthatwasinthehandsofthedisbelieverbrokeandthemanescaped.ThenameAllahissopowerfulwhenwebelieveinit,understanditandactuponit.EventhedisbelieversandtheatheistsruntoAllahandinvokeHimintimesofcalamity;howevertheyarenotrewardedastheydonotbelieve.A hidden blessing of the problem is that it will make our heart run to Allah especially whenwe aresurroundedbyaproblemforwhichwehavenomeans.Allahis“Allah”forthebelieversanddisbelievers.ThebelieversruntoAllahwillinglyandthedisbelieversareforcedtoruntoAllah.

• ThenameAllahgivesustheattachmentandthedevotion• ThenameAllahmakesustohavedevotiontoHim.WeshouldnotattachtoanyonebutAllah.• Allahhasallthebeautifulnamesandattributes.• Allahistheonetowhomweneedtodevotetoandrunto.Allthebeautyandperfectionbelongsto

Him.• NooneresemblesAllah.TherearenorivalstoAllah.Allahdoesnotneedanypartnerstocontrol

thelife.Allahhedoesnotneedawifeorchildren.• WeneedtogiveAllahHisrightsbyworshipingHimandbyinvokingHim• When we worship Allah we will be very rich as our heart will be so content. We will be a

worshipperoftheOnewhoissoperfect.WhenwebelieveinAllahitmakesuscontentbecauseweareattachingtotheonewhodeservestheattachment.

• Allahdeservesourprayer,oursacrificeandallourfeelings.• Our concern shouldbeAllah.Weneed to think aboutHimday andnight.Weneed todo tawaf

aroundthepleasureofAllah.TheoneknowingAllahwillbecontent.TheoneknowingAllahwilldrown inhis loveandwillnot turnrightor leftbecausehe is socontent.. NoonecanmakeussatisfiedorcontentexceptAllah.WehopefromAllah.wefearHimandweloveHim.
