Our goal is pleasure of Allah and Paradise and our means is remembrance, gratitude and excellence in worship to Allah In order to remember Allah we need to know Allah by learning about his names and attributes

Al Wahab – The Bestower of Gifts. The human beings love gifts. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said giving gifts soften the hearts and make people love each other. Allah(جل جلاله) knows the secrets of people and He inspired these secrets to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم).The gift has an impact to make people love each other and it awakens the goodness in a person. The natural fitra of a person is good and it loves everything good. Gifts can even reform a person One impact of knowing Allah(جل جلاله) Al Wahab is that it will wake up the good side of a person. Allah(جل جلاله) is always the Bestower of gifts, giving gifts to everyone in abundance because He wants to attract everyone to Paradise. Allah(جل جلاله) gives gifts without asking, without any other intention and exclusively for usso that we may come back to Him The name Al Wahab is never separated from Allah(جل جلاله). He is giving gifts all the time. Allah (جل جلاله)is the Bestower of gifts for everyone; whether they are enemies of Allah(جل جلاله) or friends of Allah(جل جلاله). Allah (جل جلاله)give gifts to the evil people because he wants them to return back to Him Allah(جل جلاله) knows what gift is suitable for us as He is the all knower. Allah(جل جلاله) gives us gifts that are tailor made for us. Allah (جل جلاله)does not want any return from us. Allah(جل جلاله) gives us gifts without us asking . We do not deserve the gifts yet Allah(جل جلاله) gives us. When we give gifts, it can spoil a person but when Allah(جل جلاله) gifts then it only reforms a person. All the gifts are from Allah(جل جلاله). Allah(جل جلاله) gifts reform us so that we make efforts for paradise. When Allah(جل جلاله) gives gifts then no one can interfere in order to deprive us of His gifts. Al Wahab is mentioned in the Quran specifically for certain things as mentioned below:

1. CHILDREN ARE A GIFT Surah Maryam, Ayah 50

And We gave them of Our Mercy (a good provision in plenty), and We granted them

honour on the tongues (of all the nations, i.e everybody remembers them with a good praise)] (50)

The Allah (جل جلاله) gifted Ibrahim (as) children and grandchildren. When Ibrahim (as) left the environment of shirk, he was given offspring. Offspring are a gift from Allah (جل جلاله) and Allah (جل جلاله) gifted Ibrahim (as) in the proper time and good environment. All children are gifts from Allah (جل جلاله).

Surah Aal e Imran, Ayah 37-38

So her Lord (Allâh) accepted her with goodly acceptance. He made her grow in a good manner and put her under the care of Zakariyâ (Zachariya). Every time he entered Al-

Mihrâb[] to (visit) her , he found her supplied with sustenance. He said: "O Maryam (Mary)! From where have you got this?" She said, "This is from Allâh." Verily, Allâh provides

sustenance to whom He wills, without limit." (37) At that time Zakariyâ (Zachariya) invoked his Lord, saying: "O my Lord! Grant me from You, a good offspring. You are indeed the

All-Hearer of invocation."

Children are a gift from Allah. If a person doesn’t have children, then don’t be shy to ask Allah (جل جلاله). Zachariah (as) was old and his wife was barren, but that didn’t stop him from asking. When he saw Maryam (as) with provision without means, this triggered him to ask Allah (جل جلاله) for offspring. You can make this dua asking Allah (جل جلاله) to gift you with good and obedient offspring. Zachariah (as) doesn’t want children for his pleasure, but to carry the deen. Allah (جل جلاله) gifted Zachariah (as) with a son and was given glad tidings while worshiping, and his name is Yahya (as). Zachariah (as) asked for good offspring

and Allah (جل جلاله) gave him more, he was given a son who is a prophet, a believer, and dutiful to his parents. Surah Furqan, Ayah 74

And those who say: "Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the Muttaqûn

This is the dua of Ibad Ar Rahman. They’re asking Allah (جل جلاله) to gift them from their spouses and children coolness of their eyes. There are two types of tears. When a person is sad and upset then his tears are warm and salty, but when a person is happy then his tears are cool and sweet. To have coolness of the eyes is also to be settled, so you will not look right and left at other spouses and children. A person will not only be gifted with spouses and children, but Allah (جل جلاله) will change them to be a coolness of the eyes. Whether you are married or not, have children or not, then you can make this dua. And when a person’s household is settled and has no problems, then he’ll be a role model for the muttaqeen. A person cannot be a role model for others if his own household is not settled. Surah Ash Shura, Ayah 49-50

To Allâh belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills. He

bestows female (offspring) upon whom He wills, and bestows male (offspring) upon whom He wills. (49) Or He bestows both males and females, and He renders barren whom He

wills. Verily, He is the All-Knower and is Able to do all things. (50)

Every state you are in is a gift of Allah(جل جلاله), whether you have no children or you have only girls, or if you have only boys or if you have both boys and girls. Allah(جل جلاله)is all knower and He is all able to do anything. Nothing in our life is a co-incidence.

2. DOMINION IS A GIFT Surah As Saad – Ayah 35

He said: "My Lord! Forgive me, and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not belong

to any other after me: Verily, You are the Bestower."

This dua is exclusively for Prophet Suleiman and we cannot make this dua. He sought forgiveness for having been distracted from the prayer, and then he asked for more dominion. A person who gets distracted with one dominion, would not ask for more, but Suleiman (as) asked for more dominion; look at how much hope he has in Allah (جل جلاله). Allah gave Suleiman (as) wind which he can direct and he gave them shayateen to work for (جل جلاله)him. He also gave him birds, humans and jinn as soldiers which he had control over. When Allah (جل جلاله) gives you authority and leadership then this is a gift from Allah (جل جلاله), but of course it’s not easy.

3. WISDOM AND JUDGEMENT IS A GIFT

Surah As Shura – Ayah 35

He said: " My Lord! Bestow Hukm (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and

Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous,)."

This is dua of Ibrahim (as), here he is asking Allah(جل جلاله) to grant him wisdom and to have authority to make the right judgment, He is asking Allah (جل جلاله) for the wisdom to judge between the right and wrong. To be granted wisdom, to make sound judgement and to be able to see right from wrong is a gift from Allah (جل جلاله). Without wisdom then a person will do things foolishly. It’s a gift when a person is in a position to judge, it’s not easy, but one should ask Allah (جل جلاله).

4. MERCY Surah Aal E Imran – Ayah 8

(They say): "Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us,

and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower,

Here you are asking Allah to not divert our heart after you guided us and keep us firm on religion. You ask Allah Al wahab to grant mercy to keep you steadfast on the right path.

Impacts of knowing Al Wahab

• When we know Allah (جل جلاله) is Al Wahab, then we need to ask Allah (جل جلاله) to gift you • • When we are given a gift – husband, children, dominion – then we should not

complain about it • • This names brings one closer to Allah (جل جلاله) as we realize that our life is a gift, our

faith is a gift so we should be happy and we should not complain.
