RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

1. A project titled “Prevalence and Etiology of Hearing Impairment” was

approved by ICMR, New Delhi on 16.11.2015 under my supervision as Principal

Investigator with Co-Investigators Dr. Anu N Nagarkar, Dr Abhiruchi Galhotra

and Dr. Ripudaman Arora.

The main objective of the study is to estimate the prevalence of hearing

impairment in six representative regions of India and to describe the etiology of

hearing impairment in cases thus detected.

As a part of this study, door to door survey is being done in the identified

villages/urban areas of Chhattisgarh. A sound proof van for this survey was

made available on 31.08.2016 from ICMR- (Ongoing).

2. A project titled: “Technology enablement from management to solution for

hearing impaired” was commenced on 01.06.2016, funded by the Department of

Science and Technology under Ministry of Science and Technology GoI,

New Delhi under my supervision as Principal Investigator and

Co-Investigators Dr. Anu N Nagarkar and Dr. Amrit Dixit - (Ongoing).

3. A project titled “Clinicoepidemiological profile and associated audiological

and ocular abnormalities of vitiligo patients” with myself as

Co- Investigator- (Completed).

4. A project entitled “Newborn Hearing Screening: A Hospital Based Project at

AIIMS, Raipur” with myself as Co- Investigator- (Ongoing).

5. A project entitled “Evaluation of Prevalence of Human papilloma virus

(HPV) In Head and Neck Malignancies” with myself as Co- Investigator-

(Ongoing).

PRESENT JOB PROFILE

This includes administrative responsibilities, patient care, clinical teaching,

and academic work. Administrative responsibilities include being the CEO of

the mammoth project of developing a world class health institute, recruiting

good faculty, inculcating a good work culture and persuading faculty to

undertake research oriented projects to contribute to the faculty of medicine.

Patient care includes management of all kinds of ENT diseases. I have a

special interest in Head & Neck surgery and routinely perform onco surgery

and skull base surgery. My aim is to make AIIMS Raipur institutes of great

repute in the years to come
