DescriptionNalco’sHybridPolymerFeederisdesignedtoblendneatpolymerswithdilutionwaterusinganinnovativemixingsystemwherebyahighactivityhomogenoussolutioniscreatedandreadyforinjectionintoapro-cess.Thisuniquemakedowntechnologyhasnomov-ingparts.Thus,onlyminimalmaintenanceisrequired.
Thesearerobustsystemsthatareeasytouseandresistfouling.Ampleaccesstomajorcomponentsandcriticallyplacedpipeunionsmakethisfeedertrulymaintenance-friendly.Theverticaldesignmakesforasmallerfootprint.
Aneasy-to-useHuman-Machine-Interface,orHMI,connectstheoperatortosysteminformationandallowsforon-the-flyadjustmentsoftotalsolutionfeed,chemistryfeed,andsolutionconcentration.
Thepolymerfeedrate,theoverallsolutionfeedrate,aswellasthesolutionconcentrationcanbecontrolledviatheHMI.Inaddition,thepolymerfeedratecanbeadjustedmanuallyorcontrolledremotelyusinga4-20mAsignal.Forinstance,asolutionconcentrationof0.5%canbesetintheHMIwhiletheoverallpoly-merflowcanbecontrolledbyaremote4-20mAfromtheplantDCSbasedontheirprocessvariables.Thefeedsystemwillautomaticallyadjustthewaterflowtomaintainthe0.5%solutiontomatchthevariablepolymerflow.Thereisawaterbypassvalvethatallowsyoutomanuallyadjustthe%solutionmixedvs.the%solutionfeed,allowingyoutobothmixandfeedattheappropriateratios.

OperationTheHybridPolymerFeederoperatesbyinjectingneatpolymerintoawaterstreamflowingthroughahydro-kineticteeandstaticmixer.High-pressurewaterpassingthroughtheteecreatestheturbulenceneededtodisperseandmixthepolymer.Thesolutionthenpassesthroughastaticmixer.Thissimpleyetveryeffectivesystemproduceshighactivitypolymersolutionswithouttheagglomerationsoftencreatedincompetitivefeeders.Mixershavebeensizedtoachieveoptimumenergyateachspecifiedsolutionflow.Thesolutioncanalsobefurtherdilutedpriortoinjection,ifneeded.
