Jim Corbett National Park Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India. The park—named after the hunter-turned-

conservationist Jim Corbett who played a key role in its establishment—was established in 1936 as

Hailey National Park. Situated in Nainital district of Uttarakhand the park acts as a protected area for the

endangered Bengal tiger of India, the secure survival of which is the main objective of Project Tiger, an

Indian wildlife protection initiative.

Its geographical location between the Himalayas and the streams, rivers and ridges crisscrossing the terrain, present Corbett with a remarkable variety of landscapes. This vivid mosaic of habitats – wet and dry, plain and mountainous, gentle and rugged, forests and


grasslands – supports numerous plant and animal species, representing Himalayan as well as plains kinds. The most famous of Corbett’s wild residents are the Bengal Tiger and the Asiatic Elephant, but with about 600 species of avifauna Corbett is one of the richest bird regions of India.

Nainital Set amidst the towering peaks of the Kumaon Hills, the lake resort of Nainital has a lot to offer. From boating to feeding animals at the zoo; from picnicking on the hills to exploring Jim Corbett's home, Nainital has all that you could hope for in a hill station. Nainital is set in two parts, Tallital and Mallital, with the lake separating them. Tallital is the southern side of the lake, while Mallital consists of the northern upper reaches. The town was destroyed during the Landslip of 1880, and later rebuilt by the British. It is renowned for its lake, bird's-eye views, and prestigous educational institutions. Excursions to different Lakes, Parks, Resorts, Water tanks can be under taken from Nainital.

Almora Almora is located at an average elevation of 1,651 metres (5,417 feet). It is located on a ridge at the southern edge of the Kumaon Hills of the Himalaya range. In the shape of a horse saddle shaped hillock, it is surrounded by thick forests of pine and fir trees. Flowing alongside the city are rivers of Koshi, (Kaushiki), and Suyal (Salmale). Day1:

Travel to Jim Corbett National Park (300kms) from Delhi.

Overnight at Resort. Day2:

En route, visit the Corbett Water falls near Kaladungi.

Travel to kausani(120kms). En route, visit Almora and reach Kausani; overnight at hotel. Day6:

Kausani is famous for its tea estates and Pear orchards. Visit tea gardens. View of sunrise over the Himalayan range. Also visit Baijnath Temple. Rest of the day, free at leisure. Overnight at hotel. Day7:

Travel from Kausani to Almora. 47 Kilometer distance by road from Kausani to Almora. Almora lies at an altitude of 1,638 meters, 5,500 feet on a horse saddle shaped ridge at the southern edge of the Kumaon hills. It is a cantonment town. Almora is a main destination in Kumaon Tourism region. The snow clad peaks of Nanda Devi and Trishul are the main places to visit. Day8:

After breakfast, travel back to Delhi. 378 Kilometer from Almora to Delhi.
