My Experience at theDallas Prayer Vigil ‐ A Reflection

 On July 8th of this year, I along with other faith leaders and elected officials attended a prayer vigil held at the behest of our honorable mayor, Mike Rawlings, following the tragic police shootings here in Dallas. It was reassuring to know that a man who believed in the power of prayer was administering at a very turbulent time in the life of our city, so I felt compelled to join him for prayer.                                                                 Upon my arrival at Thanksgiving Square (the site of the vigil), I sensed a cautious calm that stood in stark contrast to the chaotic confusion witnessed here only hours earlier. As I exchanged collegial greetings with the august assemblage of influential leaders, I prayed silently that this epic gathering would not morph into a mere photo op captioned by pious platitudes and impotent phrases, because the swollen eyes of our city and even our nation were looking to Dallas for comfort, guidance, and hope in the midst of unimaginable turmoil...and amazingly, my prayer was answered! Read More

Welcome our new Administrative Assistant

A native of the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Lucia, Latoya brings many gifts and talents to the ministerial association as a mother, author, poet, songwriter, motivational speaker, mentor, advocate, community servant, and entrepreneur. Learning from both the positive and negative experiences of her life she gained insight and wisdom that propelled her into action to help others. She became an advocate for abuse victims and started a ministry on abuse awareness. Latoya has worked in the

media industry as a radio personality, sound engineer, producer, and administrator for "WDJZ Radio" in Bridgeport, Connecticut and has managed communications and video/media departments for her local churches.   Latoya has also worked with Youth Ministries in the local church, Conference and Division levels for over 13 years. Her involvement in the iServe and Compassion ministries, two service focused movements encouraging community involvement, gave her the training needed to partner with government agencies in tireless efforts to help her community. She previously served at Blue Mountain Academy as an Assistant Living/Mentorship supervisor and Assistant Chaplain.    Latoya says, "I'm thrilled to be working with this amazing ministerial team and I also look forward to serving and supporting our team members in the conferences and unions." As a child of God she recognizes her talents and opportunities as a gift from above, and uses them to inspire others. Latoya currently resides in Maryland with her three amazing children Sierra, Victoria and Nigel II.
