Lakeview Scholastic Book Fair
A huge thank you to our Lakeview community for supporting the school library through your Scholastic Book Fair purchases. Since we sold close to $4000 worth of products, the school re-ceived a 60% commission credit. We have al-ready selected 100 new titles for our library and used the remainder to buy books at the DSBN library vendor fair.
School Council News
Minutes from the September meeting are availa-
ble on the school website: lakeview.dsbn.org.
Please join us for our next meeting Tuesday, Janu-
ary 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the school library.
Everyone is welcome to attend!

Intermediate Girls’ Volleyball Congratulations to the Intermediate girls’ volleyball team who played in the DSBN tournament on Nov. 28. It was a true team effort, with the girls supporting and encouraging each other all day long. In round robin play, the girls played 6 teams, losing only 1 game. They finished second in their pool! They then took on Grapeview, who were a strong team, in the quarter finals. They came up short in the first set but, as Grapeview tried a different game strategy in the second set, the girls continued to play their vol-leyball, and upset the Grapeview team in the biggest come back of the tournament! This took the match to a third set. The third game was a well fought, well played game by both teams, with Lakeview coming up just short by only 3 points. Amazing tournament girls!! It was such a joy to coach you all day long!! Team members include: Sydney B., Alyssa H., Payton R., Trista S., Lauren T., Emma M., Julia W., Charlotte W., Natalie H., Julia G., Brooke S.
Intermediate Boys’ Volleyball
Congratulations to the Intermediate boys’ volleyball team on a successful sea-
son. They worked hard to improve their skills and each player was a valuable
part of the team. The boys were competitive all season and earned the Conso-
lation Championship. They had a competitive DSBN tournament where they
displayed passing, setting and all around good teamwork.
Great work Lakers!

The Votes Are In!
At the November 26 Board Meeting, Trustees voted for the
name of the new school based on three finalists.
The naming committee narrowed down the 187 unique sugges-
tions submitted by students and community members to 3.
The name is West Niagara Secondary School!
Keep your thinking caps on though. We will need students’ cre-
ative ideas for the new mascot – the mascot competition will
be held in the new year.

MADD Canada

students.

Our FundDrive was a great success!
Mrs. Bohonos and Mrs. Scott delivered the trailer to the Value Vil-
lage, and with the help of a few family members, unloaded the con-
tents of the trailer onto five large metal carts. Each cart was
weighed, and the total weights were amazing!
Our book total was over 1200 lbs and our clothing total was almost
2700 lbs! With a bonus of $75.00 from FundDrive for collecting over
2500 lbs, our total raised was $540.00!
Thanks to all of our Lakeview community for your support! The mon-
ey is already earmarked to be used for costumes for our upcoming
production of the Lion King!
This month the K4 Class applied their early math skills during two special cook-
ing days. Students used their understanding of shape relationships to cut their
Grilled Cheese Sandwiches into rectangles, triangles, squares, and even trape-
zoids. Students also developed and applied lots of measurement skills as they
learned to make cupcakes!
K2
The grade 2/3 classes joined
forces to flick pom poms! Stu-
dents estimated and meas-
ured how far their pom poms
went. They had a lot of fun
and it was a great way to
practice their skills.

Reminder: Student Safety
In an effort to keep our students as safe as possible we re-
mind parents and guardians to report to the front office
when picking up your child(ren) during school hours.
1. At the beginning and end of the day we ask that par-
ents/guardians drop off and pick up your child(ren) in
the designated areas outside of the school.
2. The equipment and school yard are supervised by staff
starting at 8:45 a.m.. Students should not be arriving at
school until supervision is present on the yard.
3. The equipment and school yard should remain clear of
families between the hours of 8:45 a.m. and 3:35 p.m. while
students are still under the care of our Lakeview Staff.
Thank you for your help in keeping Lakeview a safe place
for all of our staff and students.
