It just looks bad. Doesn’t it? “BHAG” Like something we don't really want anything to do with. “BHAG” Like a mess someone made, or a typo in an

“BHAG”

You’ve probably run across it elsewhere. It stands for “Big Hairy Audacious Goal.” Or as revised by Pastor Mike Slaughter in the Dare to Dream study

SERVICE OF THE WORD

CHILDREN’S MOMENT

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION Holy God, you remain the same, and yet you always move among us in fresh ways. Open our eyes to see. Open our ears to hear. Open our minds that we might understand. Open our hearts that your word might take root within us. As the Scriptures are read and proclaimed, enlighten and enliven us, that we may have courage to follow where your Spirit leads. Amen.

RESPONSE TO THE WORD

The Apostles’ Creed Hymnal Page #882

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION Loving God, hear us as we pray for the church and for the world.

We pray for those around us: that those who suffer may come to know your comfort, and that you would rescue those who are in any kind of difficulty or

trouble Be present with them in their time of need, and lead us to bear their burdens alongside them.

We pray for our community, and lift up to you the many issues we face.

Guide our community leaders to work for the good of all. We pray for our neighbors in Allen County and around the world who do not know your love. Work in their

hearts with your grace, that they may see and hear and believe when we show them your love.

We pray for the world in which we live: for its people and leaders. Grant that all people may set aside hate for love and mutual respect. Let there be peace

where there is war or conflict. Guide us, and all of the people of this earth, to follow

the path on which you lead us.

WORSHIP PARTICIPANTS ~ Worship Assistant: Rev. Christopher Millay Organist: Phyllis Lahr Acolytes: Shelby Christ, Gwendolyn Krizon Music Participants: Wesley Singers, Brenda Henline-Piano Communion Guild: Ellie Nickeson, Leslie Kitch, Carolyn Ewing, Bob & Phyllis Kent, Judy Mullen, Kelly Borne, Ellen Rhoades, Marleen Scott Head Ushers: Jay & Dawn Wilhelm, Judy Mullen Flowers at the Cross: are given by Dave & Joyce Fate in memory of Courtney Fate ~ missing you for 5yrs…. Refreshment Hosts: by Members of the Outreach Committee

We pray for your Holy Church: for your people, deacons, elders, and

bishops. With the grace of your Holy Spirit, build up your Church. Teach us to be a holy people, set apart to live according to your word, yet sent forth to live and work

in the world. Equip us for the work of ministry, that we might build up the body of Christ. We choose to follow where you lead.

We pray for the communion of saints: for those who have gone before us,

and for those who will yet come. We are your church, O God. Grant that all peoples and nations might join together to proclaim your glory. For you are worthy of our

praise. We ask these things in the name of Christ, our Lord. Amen.

INVITATION As people who belong to God, we are invited to confess our sins. In so doing,

we receive the gift of God’s forgiveness and the power of God’s grace. Therefore,

let us confess our sins before God and one another.

CONFESSION Gracious God, even as you bless us, we fail to see. Even as you rain

manna upon our heads, we long for the fleshpots of Egypt. Even as you fill us to the full, we grumble about how we do not have enough. Even as you

prod us to move in new ways, we hold fast to the way things were. In so many ways we would rather be our own person than your people. We

desire our way rather than yours. Forgive us, O Lord. Forgive the

hardness of our hearts. Create in us hearts that are clean. Renew and restore our spirits, that we might follow wherever you lead. Amen.

PARDON AND THE PEACE

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. That is how much God loves us. Because we are so loved, let us offer one another the peace of Christ.
