Coming soon to a Lowe's near you! The Home Safety

Council, Lowe's and fire and life safety professionals

from your community are kicking off National Fire

Safety Month with a special, day-long safety celebra-

tion. Your local Lowe's store is planning a day of safety

fun for the entire family and the chance to learn how to

keep your family safe from fire and other home dangers.

When: Saturday, September 25, 2010

Time: 10:00 am until 2:00 pm

Where: Lowe’s store parking lot

Never leave candles or other open flames burning unattended.

Douse cigarette and cigar butts with water before dumping them in the trash.

Don't leave hot irons, or burning stovetops unattended while in use. Double-check

that you've turned them off after use

Don't have deadbolts that lock with an inside key. You need to get out fast if a fire

starts. A missing key could trap you inside. Also, make sure all windows open

easily.

Make a fire escape plan for your family. Find two exits out of every room. Pick a

meeting place outside. Practice makes perfect - hold a family fire drill at least

twice each year

Protect your residence from break-ins by reinforcing

vulnerable door frames with solid steel.

The Misguided by Tony Fields

Scenario; a woman, Anita, with three children, who married a man, Andy, with two

children. Andy gave Anita the lifestyle that most women only dreamed of. However,

Anita gave up this dream lifestyle for a one night stand which ended in a nightmare.

Andy, was raised in Atlanta, GA by a single mom with12 children. They didn’t have

much, but they had each other, and a mother, who did whatever it took to make sure

her kids had a home, faith in God and were well educated..

Anita (who eventually moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida) was raised in Kingston Ja-

maica. Anita’s mother migrated to Florida in the early 80’s leaving her kids behind

only to be abused and molested by Anita’s Step-father. This cruel act began for Anita

at the tender age of 6 and continued well past her 11th birthday. Eventually, Anita

would be under the care of her Grandmother (who despised her for her fair complex-

ion). Anita was reunited with her mother in Florida, prior to becoming a teenager.

Andy and Anita met on the job in corporate America. As a time conscious and ex-

tremely busy software architect, Andy would frequent the onsite cafeteria where Anita

worked as a cashier. Andy began to gain interest in Anita and as time went on he asked

her out to dinner. On their first date, Andy took Anita to an elegant seafood restaurant

in Deerfield along the inter-costal waterway in Florida for a sunset dinner. Anita knew

at that majestic moment, that she would marry Andy. Their relationship flourished and

Andy decided to take Anita to Atlanta. Anita had never been out of the state of Florida

before, so she was very excited. In Atlanta, Andy introduced her to his siblings and

their families. He wined and dined her around Atlanta. It was in Atlanta, where they

had consummated their relationship and talked about future marriage. It wasn’t until

they were back in Florida, that Andy discovered that Anita was in custody battle with

her kid’s father. Given the love that Andy now had for Anita, he decided to secure an

attorney and finance the cost. The effort paid off and Anita prevailed in the case.

Several months later Andy proposed to Anita and they began to plan a fairytale

wedding……………………………

What rattled Anita to the point that she would threaten to jump out of a moving

vehicle???? Stay tuned for part two.

Most break-ins occur by kicking in or

shoulder slamming of a door. The

wooden framing of your door allows

thieves to enter into your home with

ease.

STRIKEMASTER targets the weakest

part of a door, which is the wooden fram-

ing holding it in place. The result is a se-

cured door that can not be penetrated by
