My Philosophy of Life

My philosophy of life is simple. There are three parts to my philosophy of life. One is loving what I do and having the passion to peruse my dreams. My second part is to take on challenges and achieving my goals. The third part is the feeling I get when I accomplish things and get rewarded for it. For example, when I get an idea I get excited and happy about perusing this idea. I immediately began to plan things out and see what goals have to be done to make it happen. The vision of accomplishing my idea gives me joy even if I don’t achieve it. I know I will have other ideas to challenge myself and to work on it with passion. When this idea works I know there will be rewards and possible recognition. I know in life I don’t have to find myself but I have to create my life to succeed in my mind.

Life Lessons: Inspirational Speech by Steve Jobs

“Your time is limited. Don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And, most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” –Steve Jobs

Refection on SpeechI believe in this speech by Steve Jobs. He is a person I have admired for his vision abilities and his driven means to develop his plans and accomplish it. I can relate to this speech because I am a person who plans to make the best of my life. I feel I am motivated to follow my inner drive and vision on getting my goals completed. I do not really listen to others who may influence me otherwise. If it is useful information I will wisely use it, but I am focused on my goal and everything else is secondary until I accomplish what my heart desires.

Dreams By Langston Hughes

Dreams

Hold fast to dreamsFor if dreams dieLife is a broken-winged birdThat cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreamsFor when dreams goLife is a barren fieldFrozen with snow.

Reflection on Poem 1

This poem by Langston Hughes reaffirms my desire to follow my dreams. To me, my dreams are goals to be accomplished in order to be success full. I need to keep my dreams alive in my heart. I don’t want them to fade away because it gives me the motivation and vision to continue to move forward in life.

The Road Not Taken By Robert FrostTWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel bothAnd be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I couldTo where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally layIn leaves no step had trodden black.Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference.

Reflection on Poem 2This poem is a reflection of my feelings about which pathway to take in my future. I am a person who takes on challenges and would travel the the more difficult road with the idea of rewards and growth of my abilities. This to me would be more meaning to life and develop stronger strengths as oppose to going the easier way. The easy road would not give the challenges I need to feel accomplished and would no be my vision for success. I only have to read about Martin Luther King and Steve Jobs on their vision of life with purpose.

Reflection on Quote

This quote by Muhammad Ali describes my attitude about life. I approach things with the idea that it is no impossible. When I entered Thornton Academy this past fall, I did not know any body and it was such a bigger school then the one I came from. I did not dwell on the fact that it was impossible for me to know anybody or join anything or be able to for class vice president. In fact, I could easily used that as a excuse to not to try anything. I immediately walked on the Varsity Football team, managed the Boys Basketball team, and presently managing the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team. I also wanted to get involved and be the vice president of the senior class which I ran and was elected. I realize that I do have power to change things if I dare to take on challenges in life. The thought of something being impossible does not really exist in my life. I see possibilities as goals and ever goal has potential. When I accomplish my goals, it helps me face future challenges.

What A Feeling By Irene CaraWhat a feeling

Being's believingI can have it all

Now I'm dancing for my lifeTake your passion

And make it happenPictures come alive

You can dance right through your life

Now I hear the musicClose my eyes, I am rhythm

In a flash, it takes hold of my heart

What a feeling, being's believingI can have it all

Now I'm dancing for my lifeTake your passion

And make it happenPictures come alive

Now I'm dancing through my life

Reflection on Song

This song by Irene Cara gives me a feeling of how I see my future. It is saying not to be afraid of your dreams but to go with it. If a deep passion for a future endeavor then make plans to peruse it. This is what I plan to do as I get a clearer vision of exactly what my passion will be in life. My goal presently is to develop a mobile app. If it goes as planned, this could lead to my future. I believe that if I follow my dreams and goals that opportunities will open up for me in life.

The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald

Page 19: Myphilosophyoflife

Reflection on Novel

The novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald reminds me of somewhat of me in a way I want to strive to achieve things in life. I want to reach my goals but not to the extend of Jay Gatsby in this novel. I want to make something of myself in life but not be greedy and get caught up in an image personna. I would be happy to know I am able to achieve my goals with passion in order to acquire the good things in life. I do not see me being madly in love with a married woman like Jay Gatsby which was his ultimate goal. If love comes my way I will be more realistic about it and see what develops in life with this person. I do want marriage and children in the future but presently that is not my passion.

Morning Time By Mohamad Karim

The early morning is the bestIt gives me rest To see the mist

of the ocean crestThe joy of children with bliss

Seagulls fly from their nestThe sun is rising with a glitz

The day has begunLike all the rest

Reflection on Own Piece

This little poem was written my freshmen year in Portland, Maine. It was after an early morning trip to the ocean one day. I thought of this because I had to write a poem for school. It was a beautiful morning that inspired me to think of what to write for a poem. There were children and seagulls everywhere. The waves were crashing on the beach. It made me feel happy when I saw the sun rising over the ocean.
