General information Precise calibration and measurementThe instrument supports two types ofcalibration:• Wet calibration
Cell adaptation by entry ofconductivity values of knowncalibration solutions.
• Data entryEntry of exact cell constant.
Temperature compensationThe electrolytic conductivity stronglydepends on temperature. Theconductivity display value is related toa reference temperature using atemperature coefficient specific to eachsolution. The instrument supports:• Linear compensation 0 ... 10 %/K with
user-definable reference temperature• Compensation acc. to IEC 746, part 3
for NaCl• Temperature compensation for
ultrapure water with trace impurities• User-programmable Tc curves. The temperature can either bemeasured continuously or programmedas a constant.
Polarisation compensationPolarisation effects in the boundarylayer between the electrode andmeasuring solution limit the measuringrange of conductive conductivitymeasuring cells. The Mycom CLM 152 transmitter candetect and compensate for polarisationeffects using an innovative, intelligentsignal evaluation procedure. This results in a very significantexpansion of the measuring range ofa measuring cell (cf. overview ofconductivity measuring cells).
Difference measurementThe “2-circuit” variant permits theconnection of two identical measuringcells for measurement and monitoringof a difference in conductivity, e.g. for:• Media separation• Monitoring of heat exchangers• Monitoring of ion exchangers.
Concentration measurementThe Mycom CLM 152 has the ability todirectly display and output substanceconcentration values. The concentration values of foursubstances are stored in the instrument:NaOH (sod. hydrox. sol.) 0 ... 15 %HNO3 (nitric acid) 0 ... 20 %H2SO4 (sulphuric acid) 0 ... 20 %H3PO4 (phosphoric acid) 0 ... 12 %Four additional concentration curves foruser-specific media can be programmed.
Contacts according to NAMURSwitching contacts for output of functioncheck, warning and failure messagesas recommended by the measuring andcontrol engineering standardscommittee (NAMUR).
Simple controlIn the basic version, the instrument isequipped with two potential-freeoutput contacts (non-Ex: relays, Ex:optocouplers). One of them serves asa failure contact, the other can beprogrammed by the user to function asa limit contactor or fault signalling contact.By adding a plug-in module, theinstrument can be expanded to a totalof five output contacts. The table below shows the configurationof these five output contacts accordingto NAMUR.

Cleaning contacts(conductive measuring systems only)The contact outputs can be switched tocontrol spray cleaning systems, e.g. theinjector CYR 10. Cleaning can beinitiated manually or automatically byprogrammed cleaning cycles.
Clever service and start-up functionsThe instrument provides a number ofuseful service functions, such as log, current output simulation and relayswitching simulation, plus someadditional selective checking functions,e.g. keyboard, display or RAM test. Theuser is guided through the setupprocedure, assuring quick selection ofappropriate basic settings.
USP 23The USP (United States Pharmacopeia)is instrumental in defining therequirements for ultrapure water in thepharmaceutical industry. The Mycom CLM 152 fulfills all USPrequirements for conductivity measuringsystems:• Exact temperature measurement at
the same point where the conductivityis measured
• Simultaneous display ofuncompensated conductivity valueand temperature
• Display resolution of 0.001 µS/cm• Exact factory adjustment of transmitter
with traceable laboratory resistances• Precise factory calibration of
measuring cells according toASTM D 1125-91
• Temperature-dependent monitoringaccording to USP 23 stage 1.

Features/options Modular designThe design of the CLM 152 transmitterwith plug-in modules permits optimaladaptation of the instrument to user-specific requirements.
Internal / external remotemeasuring range switchingWhen the analog/contact inputexpansion module is added, theinstrument has up to four externallyswitchable measuring ranges withparameters to be chosen by the user.Inductive measuring systems inparticular are used with measuringrange switching due to the wide rangespan encountered. For theseapplications, the inductive MycomCLM 152 transmitter offers the benefit
of automatic internal measuring rangeswitching: the instrument automaticallyswitches the instrument parameters,e.g. the current output, to the next rangedepending on user-definable switchingthresholds and signals the currentlyvalid measuring range via relaycontacts.Switching affects the measuring range, the temperature coefficient and thelimits.

Pure water calibration system ConCalLow-conductivity calibration solutionsare unstable. For this reason, they areonly permissible above 74 µS/cm acc.to DIN/IEC. The alternative is to use thefactory-calibrated ConCal comparisonmeasuring system (factory calibrationtraceable to ASTM by NIST).
