Welcome Back!

Welcome to the start of the new school year! We would like to thank you all for your support during the transition weeks, the children were amazing (a little tired!) but they coped very

well with the new routines, environments and expectations. We are hoping that the children will ease straight back in to the routines and return, full of energy and enthusiasm, ready for

the challenges and excitements that this new academic year will bring!

Celebrations! We would like to inform you that Miss. Wilkinson was married in the holidays, her married name is Mrs. Simpson. It was a very special occasion and we wish her and her husband the very best for the future! We would like to congratulate Miss. Robinson on her engagement, also in the holidays. Please remember to share any information or photographs of your child celebrating or attend-ing any family events, it fulfils part of the ‘Understanding the World’ objective in the foun-dation stage curriculum.

A Celebration of Learning

Throughout the year we will be capturing your chil-dren’s learning experiences through; photographs,

videos, work evidence, written observations and learning stories. By gathering this information we

are able to celebrate their individual successes and achievements and identify what they confidently know and can do. You can also contribute to your child’s portfolio by sending in any evidence from

home.

Outdoor Learning The physical space outdoors is really taking shape and the children are enjoying the learning zones that have already been created. Further enhancements to the area will en-sure that children have a quality learning environment that will impact on their overall learning and develop-

ment. We would appreciate any donations of garden furni-ture, plants and any recycled materials.

Children will go out in all weathers, please make sure

they have a coat and sensible footwear.

Children should only use the equipment under the supervision of a member of the Foundation Team!

PE PE kit: red shorts, white t-shirt &

trainers/plimsoll shoe.

The children will have the opportunity to develop their large and small motor skills during daily ou-toor learning time and through planned physical activity once a week. During the planned activity the children will need to bring the above specified P.E kit on the following day; Orange 1 - Thursday Orange 2—Monday Orange 3—Wednesday

Voluntary Contributions The children have thoroughly enjoyed preparing and tasting different foods on a daily basis in FS1. This has only been possible because of your 50p donations each week. We would like to continue these activities in FS2 and ask for your support. Please could money be paid to your child’s class teacher.

‘All About Me’— Transition Bags Please could we remind you to return the transition bags this half term! In the past, children have really enjoyed talking about the special objects, memorabilia and photographs they chose to put inside. Staff and children become more aware of each others’ interests, families and celebrations. This project will continue throughout the term, so its not too late to start it if you have-n't already done so!

Please remember to put fresh water in your child’s water bottle and return to school daily! Can we re-mind you not to put juice in the bottles!

Baseline Entry to Reception Assessment Last half term, the staff were observing and interacting with the children to find out what they know and can do independently. The as-sessments have informed the starting points for each individual child from September. Staff will update you on your child’s progress during the term.

Reading

The children will have the opportunity to take home a shared library book at least

three times a week. The books are for you to read and enjoy with your

child. To check your child’s understanding of the story they have listened to, you could ask questions about the

characters and the events that occurred in the begin-ning, middle and end.

Once your child has built the skills to access the words and reading of simple sentences they will move on to the schools reading scheme books. The aim is for chil-dren to feel positive about reading so they become life long book lovers.

Please attend the ‘Reading Workshops’ detailed on the newsletter to find out how we teach children to read. If

you are not able to attend, send a family member.

Homework - Homework will be sent home once a week. The focus will change on a two week rota; week 1—Mathematics and week 2—topic. Please can you ensure book bags are brought to school each day!
