Being imperfect is natural. It is seed that make things better. If everything were perfect, we would not have space to make progress. On the other hand, considering one thing whether it is perfect is subjective. It varies between dierent perceptions and point of views among people. So, imperfect = not perfect? maybe imperfect= i'm perfect. We do not have to pursue a perfect world blindly, instead, we should cherish and adapt to every-thing around us. Look around! isn't it beautiful? After researching, I divided imperfect design into ve categories.

designers make things that break the traditional concept of perfection but still can fulll the same function or goal.

the design simply shows the nature and characteristics of a material without any polishing and decoration. Showing the nature is the best way to present one thing.

Under the process of modern manufacturing, everything coming out from the factory is the same. Designers apply revolutionary processes to make every single product dierent but still able to be mass produced.

designers make only half of the design and leave the other half for costumers or natural power to complete.Through this way, every single piece of work is special. Maybe it is not perfect, but it denitely posses memories and emotions of people and nature.

Looking at things discarded by people, are they really useless? By recomposing, reusing and reden-ing its usage, discarded items and junk can be given new meaning and looks.

Fascinated by the idea of DO HALF, KORSO is a combination of public chair and nature. Initially, it is just a public art that people can lean against it for rest, but after 3~5 years of rain erosion KORSO will become a public chair with one of a kind texture and shape. KORSO is not only a piece of furniture but also a symbol to tell people about natural beauty.

RESEARCH Instead of working on the external look, I rst experimented on how rain will erode the substance for latter reference to design the shape and also by using much stronger acid uid, I accelerated the eroding process.

I selected Karst topography as my reference which is formed because of rain erosion. And based on Karst topography, I started to research materials that can fulll certain eect.

VISUAL+SENSUAL CONTRAST

We see dierent kinds of contrast everyday. Contrast: as in dictionary, it is opposition or juxtaposition of dierent forms. Contrast can be explicit like black or white, heavy or light, or abstract such such as being happy or sad. Using CONTRAST can make the story you want to tell stand out and to manipulate this element and show through design is crucial.

Giving people rst impression of hard and low saturation color, CONCR can oer people both sensual and visual contrast experience at the same time. This chair is made of super exible foam along with two outer layers. After people sit on it, they can not only feel the soft foam but also see the neon color fabric between gaps of concrete-like pads due to the stretch.

Since people can only either walk or ride bikes in my car free city, and the distance between citizens houses and metro station will take less then 10 min and no more than 15 min to the central area, it became an extremely important and core problem on how to make the experience to the station a pleasant memory.

Have you ever imagine your own dream city? maybe a magic city or a city oating in the air? I am sure it must be wonderful. After setting the theme of this project as" ideal city", however; it didn't take long before the idea of "car free city" crossed my mind. It is not only because of pollution cars have created but also more about how cars has been threatening to human lives and brought us enormous social problems.

Creating a carfree city is to make a better living city and I have a brief introduction of my ideal city

consists of three districts which are residential, business and entertainment districts, public areas can be designed for various purpose because of the extra land used to be for cars.

Metro station is much more intense and built fullyunderground so It will not aect peoples daily life.

Since glasses is not workable in this case because it will make the interior space extremely cold in the winter, ETFE surface is a good alternative to use for three reasons. First, ETFE is naturally a transparent and very thin material which can create similar eects to glass reection. Second, it is a resilient and recyclable material. Last, ETFE is a thermal blanket structure for keeping temperature warm inside of building.

善,is a simple but comprehensive word in Chinese. It has the meanings of kindness, benecence, goodness, etc. For me, the most beautiful and eternal value in this world is 善, which can be found in every one of us. There is no dierence between people from various countries and of dierent colors. I believe 善 is the core value of design. Design innovation should appeal to the righteousness in every global citizen, and this collective benecence manifests itself in the power of design. Design makes the world better and only people who pursue 善 designs with "love," "dream," "courage" can sensitively feel this beautiful world. Design something that can represent my hometown-Taiwan is my concept in this project. But, having the idea to apply things that actually has kept company with Taiwanese people for ages to my 善design. I don't want to simply use Taiwan's original craft skills in my design which lots of designers have used to encourage the Taiwanese people to give appreciation of the crafts.

At last, I chose tea as my key material which played an important role in Taiwan's history. By putting deserted tea leaves into dierent aluminum molds, tea leaves are compressed into a variety of shapes. I designed a stool completely made of tea leaves.

Chinese people has started to make puer tea leaves into tea brick or cake since the ancient time. Before I began to do this project, I visited a tea expert for information of how tea famers produce tea cakes.

To produce the puer stool, many steps are needed prior to the actual compressing process of the tea. First, I made alumium molds for the tea compression later

Second, the dry tea leaves is steamed in the Chinese steamer to soften them and make them more tacky. This step allows the tea leaves to stick together and not crumble during the compression. Only tea leaves with right humidity can nally be made into concrete objects.v
