Thriller’s tend to contain scenes of violence and themes of psychological issues making them inappropriate for the ages below 15-18, however; this does depend on the content….

Iconic thrillers such as ‘Silence of the lambs’ and ‘No country for old men’ are both rated R, however surveys prove that the majority of viewers are young adults (18-25)

Other popular films such as SE7VEN and memento are rated PG but are intended for adults who will fully understand the content.

Younger audiences tend to find thrillers intellectually challenging making them either more inclined to watch them or less depending on their preference.

Thrillers are created to help test the audience and keep them on the edge of their seat and therefore; its not for those who are light hearted or those who are easily scared. In able to secure viewers you need to ensure you appeal to a wide range of audiences and genders.

From surveys online is shown that men prefer to watch thrillers, this may be because the content appeals more to them. For example, recently the new mission impossible came out, which has a more male viewers then female viewers.

Male viewers are more inclined to watch a film which contains lots of blood, and action opposed to a women may want to watch it – but it all depends of their personality and preferences.

My target audience is both males and females. We appeal to all fans of the genre and all who feel although they would enjoy watching it.

My target audience would be interested in the current events and technologies - many thrillers are based on real life issues and events – in this case we focus on mental illness’s and how those who struggle with it may feel whilst receiving treatment ( trapped and alone)
