Factoring Day 5 ­ Trinomials when a=1

Steps when factoring...1) Factor out greatest common factor.

2) If there are 2 terms, check to see if you can factor using         the difference of squares.   (a2 ­ b2)=(a ­ b)(a + b)

3) If there are 3 terms and the leading coefficient is 1         (ex:  x2 + 7x + 10), find factors of c that can add to b.    4) If there are 3 terms and the leading coefficient is NOT 1

        (ex:  2x2 + 1x ­ 3), factor using the MUSTANG method!
