Big, but not with big buildings and decorations, big in vision and with people. My dream for this congregation is incredibly far-reaching. Far-reaching, not in regard to distance around the world, but in terms of how far it reaches within the hearts and minds of people. My dream for this congregation is costly. Costly, not in terms of finances and resources, but in terms of what it may cost if we don’t live out this dream! So, what is this dream!?! To put it plainly, my dream for this congregation is to become an Acts 2 church. What is an Acts 2 church, you may be thinking? The Acts 2 church is an archetypal church we are to pattern ourselves after. The Acts 2 church was a committed group of believers who courageously, together, lived out the calling of Jesus with purpose and power. They were devoted to and intentional about doctrine and prayer (2:42). They were selling their possessions (2:45) and giving to any and all who were in need (2:45). They were around other spiritually minded people that needed further spiritual guidance (2:46) and made a habit of being in one another’s home (2:46). Non-Christians took note of their lifestyles/uniqueness and loved them for it (2:47). And last but not least, God worked wonders through the Acts 2 church (2:47)! This is the church design that God is seeking for His people today! What strikes me most about the Acts 2 church is the affect it had on the people who apart of it. The Bible says that awe came upon every soul(2:43), they had glad and generous hearts(2:46), and they were praising Godtogether (2:47). Think about a group of people who are collectively in awe of our slain Savior. Think about a people who transformed in heart by the humble Messiah. Think about a people who sincerely love praising God and find the joy of the Lord in the presence of His people. This is an Acts 2 church and this is my dream for Florence Boulevard. May God bless our efforts to become an Acts 2 church, and always, and in everything, to God be the glory! Austin Johnson Sunday, October 13 th

If you have been or would like to work with the Sewing Sisters, however, they will be meeting during the day instead of at night due to driving at night being a problem. Just because we are not coming together at formal meetings does not mean the opportunities to call, send cards, visit and other good works should stop. Please make extra efforts to meet, greet, call, or send a note to anyone who may be visiting or those of our members who are sick at home or in nursing homes and rehab facilities.
