My Initial Projects of Introduction ~ !Hello world my introduction

Posted on January 31, 2010 by christinedgw. Categories: Instructional Media Spring 2010.

I’m beginning this blog in pursuit of my degree in Instructional Media through Wilkes University and Discovery Education.  I anticipate quite an adventure and aim to journey through this coursework with an open mind,

ready to apply all new understandings in my current position as an educator.

The use of Moodle is definitely a new experience for me; any previous coursework I’ve done online has been with BlackBoard!  I’ve always

considered myself a forward thinker in education and often took graduate coursework, sometimes online.  In fact, when I realized I had 40 graduate credits, I began to think I should probably look into getting my Masters but didn’t want the usual Curriculum and Instruction.  I was so excited when I received information about Wilkes and Discovery Education’s Instructional

Media and thought “this is it!”I’m a Math Curriculum Support Specialist and have been for the past two years for a Department of Defense school on Fort Bragg, NC.  Prior to that, I taught 3rd grade for 8 years, also on Fort Bragg after teaching for Cumberland County Schools in a Montessori ES.  With the support from

my school Ed. Tech, I was one of the first to bring the ELMO into our classrooms, use the SmartBoard, WebQuests and then last year United Streaming.  I always thought I was on the forefront of technology use in the classroom.  Now I know I have only “dabbled” in the possibilities for educating our youth!  I continue to blog problem solving for elementary

students and also work with teachers to deepen their conceptual knowledge mathematically while enriching their approach to teaching

through multiple strategies.I’m originally from NY, served in the US Army, in combat, met my

wonderful husband (also an educator) from PA and we now reside in North Carolina with our three beautiful and adventurous children ages 11,

6, and 3!I enjoy running (moreso when it’s not after the children or for errands) and annually my husband and children and I race to support Breast Cancer Research.  I’m very excited to be in this program and expect to keep an

open mind, absorb all I can and apply it as soon as possible!
