My America makes me Smile!Poem By: Emily Enger
In another land he fights for me
The bold
The brave,
The lives they save
As the yellow sun shines
He returns and my eyes glow,
He smiles as my arms open with a flow
He’s in my arms tight with a hold,
My America makes me Smile.
My clothes on your back
My shoes cover your feet,
What’s mine is yours, in time of need
Your thankful for me,
I’m happy to help
As we build the brown soil brings comfort to life
And your happiness is all I need,
My America makes me Smile.
We seek high
We seek low,
We’re determined to find a cure
Your sister, your friend
Fighting to live,
That’s what the pink bow symbolizes,
A miracle in survival
My America makes me Smile.
My white heart lies within you
The rays of sun on my face,
The missing piece to my puzzle
Till death due us part,
The flutters in my stomach
With each other forever,
My America makes me Smile.
It’s half of you in a bundle
They call you mommy,
You kiss their boo boos
You encourage the stories of fairies
and places far far away with pirates and mermaids,
Unconditional love
My America makes me Smile.
Merry-go-rounds and spinning tea cups Your stomach hurts from laughing to much,
Mom and Dad with fanny packs, Family pictures of the blue ocean brings life to the
vacation,With everlasting memories you’ll never forget
My America makes me Smile.
Years of hard work
Late nights cramming,
The end of an amazing chapter
The beginning of a new one,
Excited and scared
As you toss your cap
Tears of joy as you say goodbye
My America makes me Smile.
Small and Cuddly as they whine
Bugs taste bad, they will find.
Playful and energetic they discover their exotic world,
Every smell is new and interesting.
Nap time on your face
While dreams fluster of chasing squirrels in yellow fields,
My America makes me Smile.
My faith on a cross
I kneel, pray, and share,
Light my orange candle to bring warmth to my loved one.
I feel happy thinking of you
What would you do?
How you would live?
I feel your presence around me
My America makes me Smile.
Red, White, and Blue Fireworks on the Fourth,
Cheers to our independence,
For our freedom to say, think, and act.
Raise your glass ,
And toast with me to our sacred country,
My America makes me Smile.
