My Account Patron Information Page Background The requests originated from CLP staff after receiving complaints from 2 patrons. There were 2 particular problems identified by the patrons: 1. When in My Account, it is not clear that items can be renewed when clicking the link: “nn items checked out”. A patron mistakenly kept clicking the “Renew Help” link instead. 2. Depending on the patron’s computer screen resolution, when clicking the checked out link, patrons may not see their list of checked out items until they scroll down. Changes Proposed 1. Add a word before each link that indicates what users can do when they click the link, e.g. – “Hold Status, Renew Items, Pay Fines.” We can’t change the text of the link itself. 2. De-emphasize the help links by moving them further away from the main link, and changing the text of the link to read just “Help” instead of “renew help, requesting help, and fines help.” 3. Move up the list of checked out items, outstanding holds, or fines, so when one of the links is clicked, the top part of the table is visible so the patron knows to scroll down. a. Move the Catalog Explorer icon below the table b. Modify the text about selecting a notice preference.
