    Pakistan Floods

Many commentators reported that the death toll which stands at 2,000according to reports does not represent the true picture of Pakistansworst floods in living memory. The flood saw the emerging of water-borne

diseases making it a threat to survivors.

More than 20 million people have been affected and over 800,000 homeshave been destroyed by floods and landslides brought on by monsoon rainin Pakistan. This is the largest natural disaster, greater than Tsunami andHaiti combined.

Pakistan is considered aneconomically deprived nationwhich has faced many obstacles

politically and financially in recentyears. The floods had a cripplingeffect on the economy in a countrywhich already has seen the rise offood prices increase ten folds. Oneof the core reasons for the risingfood prices are due to thedamaged crops in which 1.3 million

acres of crops is estimated to be completely destroyed.

Flood waters have now roared down from the North to Punjab and on to

Sindh along a trail more than 1,000 km (600 miles) long, spreading thedisaster further.

Minhaj Welfare Foundation has started its relief operations in the districtsof Khyber Pakhtunkhah expanding its relief efforts to Sindh.

The following table below shows the work Minhaj Welfare Foundation isdoing in the affected areas:
