The State of the Stang

a word from our President

Greetings, Car Enthusiasts!

First I would like to say I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving!!

Thanks to all of our member’s hard work this year we were able to support 4 local

charities, we gave $500 to each the following: Walton Cares Inc, PAWS, Wildlife

Rehabilitators Partnership and Silver Sands School for the Handicapped.

Don’t forget the Destin Christmas parade is Dec 13, if you would like to drive your pony

in the parade, check inside this issue for details.

The club took a vote at the Dec 4th

meeting. We will NOT be having a meeting in

January, the first Thursday falls on New Year ’s Day! Then the following Thursday

several of the members will be attending the Silver Springs Mustang Round – up in Ocala

FL. February 5th

will be the first meeting of the New Year.

Everyone have a safe and Happy Holiday!

ECRMC News Updates

Destin Christmas Parade – December 13th is the Destin Christmas Parade. The Emerald

Coast Mustang Crew will once again be participating in the parade. Come on out and ride along

as we try again to beat out the Corvette club for number of cars in the parade! We will assemble

in the Old Time Pottery parking lot at 8:00 AM. Bring along a few cans of non-perishable food

items as your entry fee for the parade. Entries must be decorated, but between Old Time Pottery

and the Dollar Store, plenty of last minute decorations can be picked up on site. If you want to be

really popular with the young parade spectators, bring along a few bags of candy to pass out

during the parade.

January Meeting Cancelled – The January meeting falls on New Year’s day and the

following week is the Silver Springs Mustang Roundup, so the January meeting has been

cancelled. Don’t forget to attend the next meeting in February!

Show Update – We finally have a definitive answer on our insurance coverage. The show

insurance provided by the MCA only covers Mustangs and Ford Powered vehicles. While

additional coverage can be purchased through the MCA insurance providers, the idea of opening

up the show to all makes was voted down at the December meeting. Our show in April will

remain open only to Mustangs and Ford Powered vehicles. Start lining up those sponsors as April

is just around the corner!

Emerald Coast Show – During the recent food drive, President Kara was approached by

the local Corvette club in regards to joining forces for the annual Emerald Coast Car Show. This

is the one held every year at the High School open to all makes and models around September.

Look for more details in upcoming Manias and at meetings. If you have any ideas, suggestions, or

concerns, see Kara or Brian.

ECRMC Membership Renewals – It’s time again for membership renewal. If you

have not yet renewed, see Brian or Jane at the next club event, or mail in the renewal form

included in this month’s Mania.

Silver Springs Roundup – ECRMC members going to the National Parts Depot’s

Mustang Roundup in Ocala and wishing to cruise to Ocala can join in one of the three waves we

have going to the show. The first group leaves on Thursday (January 8) at 9:00 AM from the I-10

rest area (East Bound) just East of Crestview. Contact President Kara for more details on the

Thursday cruise. Two different groups are travelling on Friday. Secretary/Treasurer Brian is

leaving early Friday, intending to meet the NPD cruise at Cedar Key. Contact Brian for details

about joining the early Friday crew. Board member Ed Keeney and Ironman Paul plan to leave

later Friday. Remember last year it was the Ironman crew that attracted a new member from

Florida State’s finest! To make arrangements to join Ed, Paul, and Jeff “White Lightning”

Rogers, contact Ed.

Tae Kwon Do School Offer – The American Tae Kwon Do Academy (ATA) schools

that put on the demonstration at Feed The Coast has made a special offer to ECRMC members

and their families. Bring the gift certificate included in this issue to the ATA schools in

Crestview, Niceville, or Fort Walton Beach for a free two week trial. Get a “jump” start on your

New Year’s resolutions! Maybe next year you could be in the demonstration crew at Feed the

Coast II. Remember that your extra weight takes up horsepower from your ‘stang.

A Special offer from your local ATA schools – with 3 local locations:

Crestview (682-2821), Niceville (729-2992), and Fort Walton Beach (796-2821)

Car of the Month Steve Hoffman’s 2006 ‘Evil Stang’

A little history: I joined the USAF in '99 two weeks out of high school and have owned

everything from a '71 F-100, to an '89 Accord, a '96 Lumina Sedan, to a '97 F-150 and '00 Grand Am GT1 Coupe. I finally got my break on my first REAL sports car with the Evil 'Stang. I fell in love with its style since the debut in Motor Trend and Hot Rod Magazine. I always said

I'd have one. One day, I was bored and test-drove this very car at Gary Smith Ford, thanks to a younger, more lenient salesman named Gilbert (prior employee), I actually got to DRIVE the

car. I was hooked. That Saturday back in late March, '06, I was signing papers. My original

intent was to buy a Tungsten Grey, but I settled for this; I now like it better anyway, and that beautiful Satin Silver has become an obsession in color for me. Time permissive, I've been at work keeping this a clean looking machine, with the added touch of old-school muscle, as I

was raised to love by my father and mostly, my brother-in-law.

Info on the car: 17x9 SC Deep dish wheels, 275/50r17 NT-450s all around, custom painted calipers/Powerslot rotors, SLP "Loudmouth"/X-pipe/hi-flow cats, Honeycomb tail panel, Astra

Hammond Louvered rear panel, custom honeycomb tail light decals, Dynamite Sticks Sequential tails, custom subwoofer enclosure, Dynamat trunk kit, AutoBadges custom airbrushed grille pony, custom fog light covers, CDC hood struts, Billet Specialties engine cap kit, Blue Oval Industries strut tower brace, K&N drop-in air filter.

Future mods: Awaiting install of Pacesetter headers, C&L Racer intake, Predator tune, Pro 5.0 shifter, Moto Blue underdrive pulleys; all have been hiding in a closet for almost two years.
