Dates to Remember

Dear Parents,

We are more than half way through the first trimester of the school year; time is flying by! Students

are settling in to the school routines and we are able to focus more on developing their academic and

social skills. We are also focusing on all that we have to be thankful for this month. We celebrate Vet-

eran’s Day with a school assembly on November 7th. This gives our school community the opportunity

to consider how fortunate we are to enjoy the freedoms we enjoy, because of the sacrifices made by

our veterans. November is also the time we celebrate Thanksgiving. Here at McGee we practice

thankfulness throughout the year with our “Thankful Thursdays.”

Cold Weather Reminders

Dress: We are moving into the cold season. Please remember to send your child to school well pre-

pared for the winter weather. Students spend time outside at recess, and even when it is so cold that

we keep students inside for recess, emergencies with power and heat in the building and/or school bus

could expose your child to cold conditions. We suggest that you send your child with a warm coat, hat,

and gloves. A student can always take off layers he/she doesn’t end up needing.

School Delays/Closures: Please be sure to listen to the radio or go to the Pasco School District website

(www.psd1.org) in the event of inclement weather to find out about school delays and closures. You

may also sign up for the Pasco School District App to receive alerts regarding school delays and clo-

sures.

Cold and Flu Season: The cold and flu season is approaching. Students are exposed to many other peo-

ple in the school setting. Please help your child by ensuring that he/she gets plenty of rest, stays hy-

drated throughout the day, uses good hygiene for coughing, including coughing into his/her arm and

frequently washing his/her hands (especially after coughing, blowing nose, etc.). Sometimes, even

with all the precautions, a child will still get sick. While we emphasize good attendance, and would like

students to be here every day, there are times that you will need to keep your child home from school.

Please keep your child at home if he/she exhibits any of the following;

• A fever of 100 or more

• A severe cough with fever

• A sore throat with fever or difficulty swallowing

• Diarrhea or vomiting

If you child has any of these symptoms, he/she should stay home until they are fever-free (less than

100) and/or symptom free (diarrhea/vomiting) for at least 24 hours.

Parent-Teacher Conference Notifications

We will be sending home notifications for parent-teacher conference times in mid-November, so be on

the lookout for these notifications. Conferences will take place the first week of December (December

3rd-6th) with students released from school at 12:30 each day of conferences. Please make it a priority

to attend your child (or children’s) parent-teacher conference. Conferences are an opportunity to

make home-school connections and for us to collaborate with you on “learning for all, doing all it

takes, for all to succeed,” which is the mission of our school!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Lechelt-Polster

THE NEXT GENERATION OF BOX TOPS IS HERE.

Eventually the Box Tops program will become digital-only. Participating brands are starting to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Top label. If you see this label, use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt. Box Tops are still worth 10¢ each for your school. The app will find participating products purchased at any store and instantly add cash to your school's earnings online. https://www.boxtops4education.com
