OLI HINTON Ballan Hub Host and Coordinator Community Music Victoria

When Oli arrived in Melbourne from the UK in 2012 he had no idea of the treats in store! Within a year he found himself Coordinator of CMVic, and as a long time enthusiast and member of street bands in the UK was delighted at the opportunity to work alongside others keen to promote participatory music playing as widely as possible. In no time at all he was revelling in playing his bari sax, accordion, and most recently U-Bass in some of the wonderful community groups around Melbourne.

Totally committed to making community music available to everyone, and as a local to Ballan, Oli can’t wait for Musicfest to kick off!

DAN MACEOIN Emerald Hub Host

Workshop Leader: All Together NowDan has been a student of music, theatre and circus for over three decades. He has been teaching these skills to primary school students for over two of those decades. Dan is currently the music teacher at Emerald Primary School, the Musical Director of the Hills Ukulele Festival and the President of AUTLA (Australian Ukulele Teachers & Leaders Association).

The ukulele is a fantastic instrument with which to teach music theory. It is one of the few instruments that a beginner can pick up and be playing a song off the radio (maybe not perfectly, but at least recognizably) after just ten minutes of practice. That instant success is what keeps people interested in learning more.

Workshop: This is an introduction to both a wonderful song and an Australia-wide project.

The workshop will cover:• A few out of the ordinary chords that have far

reaching benefits for your ukulele playing;• How to break down any song into something that

you can play no matter the difficulty level;• How to take part in the National Project creating our

own ukulele version of the song;• Some excellent practice techniques for acquiring

new skills and;• An introduction to a beautiful song.

This is your invitation to take part in a National Ukulele Project with AUTLA and OK GO.

More project info:

AUTLA (Australian Ukulele Teachers and Leaders Association) with the enthusiastic permission of the management of the band and Music Video Geniuses “OK GO”, is proud to present to you the opportunity to bring together ukulele groups and individuals from all over Australia.

Last year during lockdown in America, the band OK GO wrote a song called “All Together Now”. It is a song about the loneliness and emotional stresses that many were feeling at the time and provided the comforting message that while we are all alone, we are all alone together and that this shared experience (along with the internet) is something that brings us all together. They then created a music video with all 4 band members isolating in their own homes and editing dozens of solo clips into a beautiful final video. Within a month, there was an international push to become involved. The band received audio files, video files and artwork from over 15,000 people from over 21 countries. The band had to create an additional 5 music videos for the song to use all the submissions.
