Target Audience & Needs

I think the target audience for this music video is emos and old teens/young adults. I think that emos are one of the target audience for this music video is because throughout the video it is very dark. I think that old teens/young adults are the other target audiences because they are the target audience for Horror films and the music video gave of that Horror film vibe. I got this feeling because of the demon creature who was stuck in the television at the beginning of the television at the beginning of the video. I also got the feeling because of how creepy the children in the video looked and how they were just terrorising random people and how they were also destroying everything in sight. The final reason why I got the feeling of Horror film type of thing is because the demon creature was controlling the children for some strange reason. When the television switched on and the demon started screaming the lyrics the children appeared like they were his minions and he owned them.

Lyrics (Meaning Implied?)

The lyrics of the song are repeated throughout the song. The main lyric in the song is “I want your soul I will eat your soul” from this lyric it can easily be understood like it is from the devil. I think that the video makes you think that it is a message from the devil because the location used is made to look very disgusting and dark. This could be seen as it being hell on earth. I think the music video is narrative based. I think this because the whole video is based on how the lyrics are. An example of this is for the lyric “come to daddy” the director put the little demon children in schoolgirl dresses.

Tempo The tempo of the song is fast and aggressive. It is also jumpy in some places.

Genre The genre of the song is drum and base. I think the video goes against the genre because I can’t see any other drum and base music videos being that weird and out there. The genre of the video is horror. I think it shows in the video because it is like a short horror film and it is quite haunting.

Camera TechniqueThe video shows various close ups. The example I have chosen to use is the one of the dog barking at the TV when the demon comes on. I think this is used to build up tension in the music video.

Editing The camera movement most frequently used is cutting. This happens every few seconds in the video this is purely because of the genre of the video and the tempo of the song used.

Use of Digital Effects The video has used colour correction to make it darker and to make it look colder. They have also made the screen glitch. These effects are good for this video because it fits the genre of the video.
