AnalysisThe visuals really add to the mood and atmosphere of the video. The music

starts off like you are playing a vinyl record, this will add to the rich feel of the video. Since vinyl records these days are like precious memories or antiques and a vinyl record player was expensive back then, mainly rich people would have it. Which like I said gives the beginning of the music video an upper class feel. The music has a slow tempo, so the cuts are slow to add to the precision and mainly the atmosphere.

This music video is of pop genre. Since pop, is mainly for a general audience, this video may appeal to a wide range of audience, because the video has fashion that is growing today, plus its not too artistic, it just has simple colours. Nothing that stands out too much. Pop is intended to encourage dancing, so in the video they have the actors dancing as well, the beat and melody is also uplifting and joyful, which may entice that dancing mood.

Camerawork is pretty simple. Its mostly mid-shots and some close-ups, mainly close-ups of the girl, to connote that she is what the songs about. There is some handheld camerawork, mainly for the chorus, because that is the main part of the song, it adds to the dancing mood. There is an establishing shot at the start of the video of the house, it sets the scene and shows the audience the location. Which helps the audience anticipate what the video could be about. Shallow focus shots are also present, to make the audience concentrate on the important image.

The cuts are quite slow and not too fast, to suit the tempo of the song. There are some slow motion parts, to emphasise the mood and the atmosphere of the video. It shows the facial expressions and body language more clearly, the slow motion of the girl, could connote that she’s starting to fall in love with him. The cuts become a bit faster at the end, maybe to connote the climax of the song, that his finally got the girl.

“Please don’t let me go”, it may connote that he doesn’t want the girl to leave him, because his got the girl. “You’re underneath my skin”, connotes that she is always on his mind or, she always wants him, wants to be with him etc. “Normally I try to run and might even want to hide”, connotes that his never wanted another girl, or always avoided girls. “Cause I never knew what I wanted ‘till I looked into your eyes”, connotes that his now interested in this one girl, since he never was before now she has made him open his eyes to her.
