KINGSDALE FOUNDATION SCHOOL MUSIC DEPARTMENT SCHOLARSHIPS 2019/2020 MUSIC STAFF/COURSES/FESTIVALS The department consists of six full time music staand 35 specialist peripatetic sta. FESTIVALS Pupils are entered for festivals such as: BLACKHEATH, BECKENHAM, DULWICH & CROYDON MUSIC FESTIVALS. COURSES Pupils are encouraged to attend holiday music courses such as: DYO, CYM, KINETICA, SYO, SLYO, LSSO, NYO & NYJO PROGRESS The progress of pupils will be closely monitored. Written progress reports will be given to parents and carers. Music scholars will be prepared for the instrumental, vocal and theory exams for the following: ABRSM (associated Board of the Royal Schools of music both practical and theory). ABRSM Jazz syllabus. MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS 2019/2020MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Kingsdale Music Department offers a range of scholarships.

The audition for a Music scholarship is intended to discover musical aptitude and potential. Applicants will be invited to attend an audition in which they will be expected to perform two pieces of music - instrumental or vocal. Applicants will then be required to complete a written musical aptitude test and to respond to aural tests.

Music scholars will have the chance to attend concerts of many different styles - pop, classical, opera, ballet, jazz and world music.

A number of different types of scholarships are offered .

•Full Scholarship •Half Scholarship •Gifted and Talented

MUSIC AWARDS

Gifted and Talented Our Gifted and Talented programme includes:1. Group Tuition2. Full access to Gifted and Talented provision within the Borough and School.3. Music related trips.4. Attend additional practice sessions, workshops and other events as required.5. Participate in music events inside and outside school.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS

Full scholarship

As a Full Music scholar you would be expected to:1. Attend instrumental /vocal lessons regularly (individually)2. Attend the weekly theory classes.3. Participate in the allocated instrumental ensemble or choral rehearsals.4. Perform in formal and informal concerts5. Attend organised visits to hear and see concerts, musical theatre and other such events6. Attend workshops with Professional Musicians

Half Scholarships 1. Attend instrumental /vocal lessons regularly (small group tuition)2. Attend the weekly theory classes. 3. Participate in the allocated instrumental ensemble or choral rehearsals.4. Perform in formal and informal concerts5. Attend organised visits to hear and see concerts, musical theatre and other such events
