What I did

Page 2: Music Magazine What I Did

I change the hue and saturation, to change the colour in the photo. It makes the colours stand out more, the wood, plants, and snow brighter

I used the font freak show from dafont.com for my masthead and contents title, I like the circus style . I uses bevel and emboss to make it stand out on the page. I also use a brush tool to make the detail at the top of the page, giving it a circus, wild west feel to it..

I type exclusive onto another document, and then cut around it using the rubber tool, to make it look like a paper clipping.

I used this photo, as it is natural, and she is looking out, her eyes slightly follow you. I also like the bright colour of the violin compared to the background. You would see many green metallic violins.

I copy and paste the words into different text boxes, and moved them into the corners of the cover line and applied bevel and emboss, and a white stroke to make it stand out on the page.I didn’t want the stroke to be too big, so it is a small outline.

I flip the image, to see what it would look like with the contents running down the side. But I didn’t like how it looked, it looked too similar to the front cover.

I applied outer glow around the mast head, and the detail, to make it stand out against the dark background, so its not lost. I kept the spread small, and change the size.I also added a slogan underneath with I added a red stroke and outer glow to make it stand out too.

I moved my lead article so it is under my image.

I also added skylines, so it frames the cover.

to carried the house style from the front cover, instead of using one photo for the whole page, I decide to use more than one, like in the Q magazine. I used drop shadow to make each picture look less flat, and stand out from each other, so you can see that they are separate.

I put a red frame around the pictures, and put it on a slight slant. I put the page number of the double page spread on the photos, so the reader will know straight away what page it is on. I made it the same way I did with “Exclusive” on my lead article cover line.

I used the ruler tool to make my writing straight, and keep the numbers inline with the writing as well.

I put the numbers into their own boxes, and also put them on a slight slant. I used drop shadow, bevel and emboss to make them visible again the red.

I made the feature article separate from the rest, having it on its own, I use a white stroke, bevel and emboss to it will stand out again the red box.

I added some humour by using less serious photos.

I layered my double page spread, so the photo took most of the space, but not half and half.

I use genius at work as my title, as in the photo shoot, I used a mug that had it written on. Which can be seen in the photo in the corner.

I use bevel and emboss to make it slightly 3D, I also added a red stroke to keep to the colour scheme going through the front cover and contents page.

I put a pull quote from the interview next to the title and over the text. I think it is a funny quote which would make the reader interested in the interview.

I used the brush tool in the background, to make a old fashion wall paper theme. I made a new layer and used one type of brush in red, then another layer with a different brush but in a orange, this is so I can change the opacity of the layer.
