Music Magazine Inspiration

The fun funky colours of “blurt” draw your eye to it on a shelf. The large text is also eye catching and the most important information is emboldened, coloured in or highlighted in some other way. The model used is wearing a simple but fashionable outfit and is holding dozens of balloons almost like an accessory. There is a contrast between her bored unexcited look and the excitement that the colour scheme suggests.

Kerrangs cover is a lot darker than blurts. In the image none of the band members are smiling and they are wearing darker colours. The text is a simple pale gold colour and underneath that it is white. There is information at the bottom presented in a very standard way which suggests that this magazine may take a more serious look at music or that the music played is darker and less whimsical.

The kind of music i am into is electro/punk and rock which I believe both magazines present separately. So for my project I would like to blend the two types of music and magazine. There would be an evident use of bright colours but there would also be darker colours/images to show the rock and roll side of my magazine.

The text would be fun and eye catching but also dark. So I may go for gothic font as it is nice to look at but also has a “tortured soul” look to it. I would try to keep as light on the text as possible with out getting rid of important reader information so that I could focus on the visual art of the magazine.

The attire of my models would be similar to lady gaga’s futuristic style (very colourful) but the accessories would be dark (metal or wood) an the surrounding would be a mix of modern and gothic. Similar to alpha beats attire colourful and subdued.
