A FEW WORDS ON MUSIC THEORY
There is no requirement to have studied Music Theory previously, as we begin with the fundamental, and work progressively through all areas, including –
Reading and writing of standard
notation. Use of chords in composition. How to form scales and modes,
and how to use them appropriately. Understanding rhythm. Development of aural recognition
skills.
When approaching the study of music theory for the first time, musicians often feel a sense of fear. At BIMM, our goal is to dispel those fears, and to equip students with the tools they will need to work in a professional environment.
We aim to get you using music theory concepts to explore many areas of rhythm, pitch and harmony, allowing you to become a more accomplished and well-rounded musician. More importantly, an intimate knowledge of music theory should serve to enhance your creativity, and benefit your own music.
MUSIC THEORY IS ONE OF THE THREE MODULES THAT YOU WILL STUDY AS PART OF THE CPD DIPLOMA COURSE.
