Music Department Major events 2012 - 2013

The music department presents an exciting programme of concerts featuring the wonderful Animal Magic Gala and the toe tapping Musical Express Extravaganza as the major concerts for Autumn and Spring. The annual Brighton Festival Fringe concert features all the major musical groups with Roedean soloists in the concerto performances. All the following events are open to you, friends and extended family and we warmly invite you to join us.

NOVEMBER Friday 30 Animal Magic Gala Concert Join all of Roedean’s musicians in an entertaining and fun evening of music featuring the magic of the animal kingdom. Roar along to the Lion King, prowl with the Pink Panther, purr to Lloyd Webber’s Cats. Lots of fun for everyone.

7.30 pm Roedean Chapel (Tickets: £5, £2 concessions) DECEMBER Wednesday 12 Carol Service For the festive season, Roedean’s traditional service of nine lessons and carols. Seasonal music and readings with Roedean’s choirs. (Tickets for this service may be restricted.)

4.15 pm Roedean Chapel FEBRUARY Monday 11 Chamber Music Day A day of chamber music masterclasses for Roedean’s musicians directed by a visiting professional musician.

MARCH Friday 1 Musical Express Extravaganza Gala Prepare to be swept off your feet with a thrilling programme of up tempo numbers featuring Starlight Express, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Coronation Scott, Polar Express and Murder on the Orient Express. We will be heading out to space with 2001 a Space Odyssey. A musical transport of delight for all to enjoy.

Tuesday 5 Chapel Royal Lunchtime Recital The String Orchestra and Senior Singers perform plus Chamber music and instrumental solos with our more advanced musicians.

1.10 pm Chapel Royal, Brighton (Tickets available on the door) Wednesday 13 Piano Masterclass and Recital with Maria Marchant Maria Marchant will give a lunchtime recital and lead masterclasses for our more advanced pianists. All are welcome to attend both the recital and masterclasses. 1.10 pm—5.00 pm Roedean Chapel MAY Saturday 4 Brighton Festival Fringe Concert Roedean’s musicians are joined by parents, staff and local musicians to perform our annual community concert in the Festival Fringe.
