A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies andis widely performed across the world. Magic, love spells, and a mysterious forestcreate the setting for a marvelous mix-up of desire and enchantment, merriment

and farce. Four young lovers flee the law and their own mismatched rivalries by running to the forest outside Athens, where theybecome entangled in a feud between the King and Queen of the Fairies. Also in the forest, a band of Athenian tradesman and would-beactors rehearse a play for the forthcoming wedding of the Duke of Athens and his bride, the Queen of the Amazons. A Midsummer Night’sDream weaves comedy together with a poetic vision of the relationship between art and life, dreams and the waking world, and the lightand dark sides of love.
