5 Star of David Butterfly Necklace, sterling silver and cubic zirconia, $88 / $79.20

BUTTERFLY NECKLACEThe Star of David Butterfly necklace is one of our favorites in the Museum Store. The story of this design dates back to the Spanish Inquisition, when converts who secretly continued to practice their Jewish faith would wear a butterfly necklace like this one, which forms a Star of David when closed. Magnets are inlaid to form it into a star again with only a soft touch. The necklace measures 16" when closed and 17.5" when opened. The closed pendant is .75" × .75".

MICHAEL ARAMMichael Aram has universal appeal with creations that shift beautifully from ceremonial objects to fine art. Brand new for fall 2015, the Michael Aram Palm Collection is inspired by the beauty of a windswept palm tree and the perfectly imperfect shapes of woven palm leaves and fallen fronds. Warm antique finishes and intricate sculpted textures make these pieces graceful and elegant.

MEZUZAH FROM THIS HOMEBefore World War II and the Nazi and Soviet occupations, Poland had 3.5 million Jewish inhabitants. These bronze mezuzot commemorate the Jewish life of prewar Poland. Aleksander and Helena of Mi Polin take wax imprints from the door frames where the mezuzot were hastily removed after Jews were forced out of their homes. Preserved first in wax and then hand forged in bronze, these mezuzot are three-dimensional replicas of the scars left on the doorposts of buildings whose original Jewish tenants are long gone. Made in Warsaw, each mezuzah bears the meticulously engraved name of the town where the imprint was taken.

SHARON LEVY Each of Sharon Levy’s stunning pieces are handmade by the artist in Israel. Inspired by her own customers, Sharon approaches her work from the perspective that the jewelry she creates is an individual work of art starting with raw materials, precious metals, and stones, which are eventually transformed into beautiful objects that delight the soul as well as the eye. From handpicking each stone for maximum color and clarity from the gem dealers in Tel Aviv to the final polishing, every step is carefully performed.
