Let’s think about the future of railways This is an exhibition room for envisioning the future of railways. Create your own avatar and set off to the world of railways in the future. Tracing the technological progress of Japanese railway Railways were first introduced in Japan around 150 years ago. Actual materials, photos, and detailed explanations are provided to show the progress of Japanese railway and the drama of people involved in the railway industry who worked for the advancement of railways. Opening Time-17:30 This is one of the largest railway diorama in Japan that is approximately 23 m wide and 10 m long. Please confirm the guidance program schedule at the museum. Railway Diorama Main Bldg. 2F Hours The railway culture is introduced here through “words”, “pictures”, “films”, “music”, and “food” related to railways. Railway Cultural Gallery Main Bldg. 2F 10:20-17:05 Departure from Central Stop (Until 16:05 on weekdays during the winter) This is a miniature 6-car train that runs across a 230 m railway. The model of the train is the E2-1000 series. Teppaku Line Hours Opening Time-17:30 Hours Visitors can experience simulation driving of trains such as the E233 series train. Simulator Hall South Bldg. 2F A play area for children with various displays as well as objects of railways and trains. The area is also safe for small children to play in. Kids Plaza Main Bldg. 1F 11:00-16:00 *Closed during winter (Dec. to Feb.) Hours Visitors can ride miniature train led by the nearly identical reproduction of E5 series Shinkansen. This is Japan’s first authentic SL operation simulator that reproduces the operation of the D51 steam locomotive.
