Background Summer Company, a provincially-funded program designed to assist young entrepreneurs learn what it takes to run a business, assisted 11 student entrepreneurs across Chatham-Kent in summer 2018. Comments In place of a summer job, students between the ages of 15-29 years of age have the opportunity to be their own boss. All that’s required is a good summer company idea, commitment, and hard work. In return, students receive hands on coaching from local mentor groups (business consultant, accountant, lawyer, banker and marketing professionals) and an opportunity to receive an award of up to $3,000 to assist with start-up costs and working capital over the course of the summer. This year’s group features a collection of eager and talented youth who have worked hard to build their business plans and launch independent businesses. 2018 recipients include (Attachment A): Camryn Nooyen Farm Repairs, Blenheim – custom repair work for Chatham- Kent farming operations Jeremy Wolting – Wolting Photography, Blenheim – professional photography and videography services Cameron Welch – Custom Route, Charing Cross – custom made orders using a CNC routing machine Rena Lugtigheid – Simply Nature Boutique, Chatham – handmade bath and body products Shelby Troy – Five Star Image by Shelby, Chatham – eyelash and skin studio

Background
Summer Company, a provincially-funded program designed to assist young entrepreneurs learn what it takes to run a business, assisted 11 student entrepreneurs across Chatham-Kent in summer 2018.
Comments
In place of a summer job, students between the ages of 15-29 years of age have the opportunity to be their own boss. All that’s required is a good summer company idea, commitment, and hard work.
