WHY FUTURE CITIES?The Bengaluru StoryBengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka and a major IT hub in India has emerged as one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Popularly known as the ‘Silicon Valley’ of India, Bengaluru is the fouh highest GDP contributor. The city has grown phenomenally in terms of technology, industry, enterprise and above all, oppounity.
Major IT companies like Wipro and Infosys have their headquaers in Bengaluru. The rapid pace of urbanisation , beer educational environment, job prospects, healthcare and recreational facilities have rapidly grown the city’s population with an ever-increasing influx of people.
Popularly known as the Garden City of India, Bengaluru’s rapid growth has posed its own set of challenges.
The city’s green patches, parks, open public spaces, lakes and water bodies have been under strain over the years. There is an enormous pressure on ground water supply while the consumption is rapidly rising. Waste management is another issue the city needs to focus upon.
Future Cities 2019 aims at addressing these issues and providing a plaorm to all major national and international technology and service providers to discuss the possibilities, oppounities and solutions for these city development challenges, not only for the city of Bengaluru, but for cities and towns all over India.
THE SHOWn With rapid pace of urbanisation, Indian cities and urban areas are experiencing massive
expansion and growth, throwing up huge challenges, and business oppounities. In most cases, the city level infrastructure is bursting at the seams. The Government of India programmes like Swachh Bharat Mission - Sanitation for All by 2019; Housing for All by 2022 under PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana); 100 Small Cities Mission; 500 Cities under AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) for 1 lakh population plus cities and HRIDAY (Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana) for Heritage Cities are driving central and state governments, urban local bodies and private industry by creating the right environment and enabling them for building small, safe and sustainable cities.
n For the last 15 years, Municipalika, International Conference and Exhibition on Making Cities Work, has been instrumental in highlighting peinent issues revolving around these challenges and oppounities, sharing best and leading practices, showcasing technological and managerial solutions and providing inputs for policy interventions.
n Municipalika 2019 is the 16th International Exhibition and Conference on Sma and Sustainable City Solutions.
n It will have paicipation of International Countries, States, Municipal Corporations and Parastatal boards displaying the initiatives they have undeaken for their Cities along with 300+ technology solution providers for city development needs, exhibiting their technologies and displays.
n More than 1,500 delegates and 8,000 visitors are expected to paicipate in the unique mega show for building beer cities.
