Multimedia Presentation
For this assignment, you will
work either individually or in pairs to create a presentation, (pairs share a grade). Your presentation
should be a PowerPoint presentation (uploaded to slide share www.slideshare.net ), or YouTube
video. The subject is on a sociological topic of your choice falling under one of the Umbrella topicsbelow. By creating a presentation you will show what you have learned through your own research
and share it with others.
Umbrella Topics:
Problems of Well-being
Problems of Human Diversity
Problems of Inequality & Power
You will present your topic in a creative and thought provoking manner and incorporate anyappropriate multimedia, (including relevant images, short videos, etc.). You will highlight the
importance of your chosen social problem and come up with a probable solution. You will need
to incorporate a relevant sociological theory from the course throughout your presentation.
The following are examples of topics that fall under each of the umbrella topics:
*Technology is Destroying our Minds, Bodies, and Communities
(from Problems of Well-Being).
*Globalization and the Loss of Cultural Identity
(from Problems of Human Diversity)
*Racism Today-Holding us Back from Moving Forward (from Problems of Inequality & Power)
You will create an account in either YouTube or Slideshare.net (depending on your assignment
type) and upload your completed video or PowerPoint. If you choose to create a YouTube video, it
must be about 10 to 12 minutes in length describing your topic. If you would prefer to create aPowerPoint presentation, it must be approximately 15-20 slides. You will need to reference and cite
a minimum of 5 sources in APA format.
In session 12, you will post the URL link to your presentation in the Multimedia Discussion
Forum on the Discussion Board and write a reflection on your assignment relating it to your life
and the course. You will also be responsible for replying to a classmate's assignment and reflection,
touching on questions posted in Session 12.
