Deployment is the term used to describe the process of:– Receiving the Master English version of new training content
from the Development function
– Preparing it for delivery in the local market to the agreed delivery quality standards
The process is split into two parts: – Central Deployment or translation and proofreading phase
– Local Deployment or localisation and preparation phase

The “Translation Phase” delivers the identical master version translated in all agreed languages applicable to any media type (WBT, IBT and VCT) for all courseware. It consists of:– Translation of participant-facing materials from English Master into the
specified languages– Proofreading to control the adherence of translated materials to the
English Master version, as well as ensuring the quality of the translation from a grammatical and contextual perspective
Proofreading is performed by a native language speaker, typically the local Subject Matter Expert or a Trainer familiar with the curriculum of the respective course and ensures:– Adequated glossary and technical terms (country, industry, brand, tech
specific)– Proper style (diction and grammar) and understandability (semantic)

The “Localisation Phase” starts after proofreading and is relevant for courses delivered locally (non-global courses). It consists of:– Integration of specific local information as specified within the training
requirements document Identification in the Training Requirements of:
– A non-localisable CORE
– Drivers of variation in the localisation (legal, local models, processes,…)

In general, localisation only includes text changes for specific local information different to the master version in the following categories:– Market specific data– Model specifications– Regulations / Legal– Vocabulary / dialect relevant to the brand context and customer specific language– Centrally pre-defined class size adjustments (availability of class rooms, materials and
vehicles)

Challenges Associated With The Deployment Of E-Learning
The main problem is the handling of versions:– Central control of versions in translation and proofreading
– Separation of functional and translatable sources (XLIFF)
– Local changes are out of central control and can not be backtracked
– Identify version deviation degree of localised versions to backtrack changes
Localised content can easily lead to the following issues: – Lack of consistency
– Additional costs due to maintenance problems (RLO & inconsistencies)
