MAST: Multi-Mission Advanced Sensor Testbed

A Cost-Effective, Flexible DoD / NASA / Industry Partnership Asset

Developed in concert with the Air Force Research Labs Flight Vehicles Integration Branch and NASA Glenn Research Center, the MAST pod combines off-the-shelf earth- and fire-mapping capabilities with a developmental gimbal-stabilized HSI sensor. Embedded navigation, geo-location, and video downlink capabilities are provided onboard the pod in a package designed to accommodate a high-performance subsonic research aircraft flight envelope.

Flexible, Modular, and Adaptable to Multiple Payloads

The pod’s structure provides an extensive volume and weight carriage capability for rack-mounted electronics packages with up to a 19" form factor. Vibration isolation is provided onboard the pod. Filtered 28VDC power is distributed from the host aircraft, along with an aircraft-rated, switched Gigabit Ethernet network. Support for L-band video downlink is also included. With minimal internal changes, MAST can support a wide variety of test, evaluation, demo, or operational payloads, including UAV sensor packages, advanced airborne networks, airborne communication relay / gateways, or atmospheric chemistry experiments.
