#1) Prose Writing Assignment – “I Disagree”

Even if you agree with the practice/belief, write an argument against it.◦ First outline your response, including a thesis

statement If you have chosen the right topic, you

should be able to write at least 4 paragraphs

Thesis:◦ Why do you disagree with it?◦ What are 2-3 of your points?

Body Paragraph #1 Topic: Body Paragraph #2 Topic: Optional Body Paragraph #3 Topic: Conclusion (restatement of intro/thesis)

While I circulate around the room to give you feedback on today’s writing assignment do the following assignment.

Read the chapter called “The Transaction” from On Writing Well by William Zinsser.

Answer the two questions below:◦ What is the “right” way of writing?◦ What are the two most important qualities in

writing that the book will “go in search of”? Why do you think they are important?
