Time certainly flies while we’re having fun at school. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped to make this a great term. Thank you to our dedicated teachers who plan and deliver highly en- gaging lessons; thank you to our hard-working students who make the most of every learning opportunity. Thank you to our competent student leaders, for taking your responsibilities so seriously. Thank you to our support staff who work in the office or ensure the school is clean or well maintained. We are all part of a team, and although we have different roles to play, they are all very necessary and im- portant. Thank you too, to the many, many parents who support us. We have parents who listen to children read; who help in the canteen; who are members of our parent representative group, the P&C, and plan fundraising activities; there are other parents who gladly support the P&C fundraising events. Some parents are able to lend a helping hand at our working bees, some even carry out anonymous weekend garden or yard work! You are all very much appreciated and valued and we would like to invite all volunteers to the Volunteer’s Morning tea on Wednesday. (see notice). Teachers have been reminding children about protective behaviours. Last weekend, a parent reported an alarming incident that occurred in Brunswick Heads. Please be vigilant in regards to the safety & well-being of your children during the holidays. Have a happy and safe holiday. First day Term 4

I can hardly believe that another term is over. Time certainly flies while we’re having fun at school. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped to make this a great term.

Thank you to our dedicated teachers who plan and deliver highly en-gaging lessons; thank you to our hard-working students who make

the most of every learning opportunity. Thank you to our competent student leaders, for taking your responsibilities so seriously. Thank you to our support staff who work in the office or ensure the school

portant. Thank you too, to the many, many parents who support us. We have

parents who listen to children read; who help in the canteen; who are members of our parent representative group, the P&C, and plan fundraising activities; there are other parents who gladly support the

and we would like to invite all volunteers to the Volunteer’s Morning tea on Wednesday. (see notice).

29/09/2009

Harold’s on his Way Healthy Harold is visiting us early next term. This is a great opportu-nity for children to learn aspects of health and wellbeing in a modern facility, which features the latest in technology. A visit to the Life Education van, plus a student workbook, costs $7.00. In a joint initiative from the SRC, P&C and the school, we will be subsidising each student so that the visit will only cost $4 per student. I highly recommend this activity and encourage you to budget for Healthy Harold’s visit. Parents are invited to visit the van to experience some of the lesson content. Date and time of the parent session will be ad-vised next term. Calling All Kinders Our 2010 Kindergarten Orientation program starts soon. Pre-school children, who are commencing school next year, are invited to BIG school every Tuesday for the first four Tuesdays next term beginning on Tuesday, 20th October. Please inform friends or relatives with pre-school age children and invite them to come along from 9.30am to 10.45am. Orientation Packages are available from the office.

Volunteers’ Morning Tea Calling all volunteers, please come along for morning tea tomorrow. A relaxing cuppa under the COLA will be our way of saying “Thank you” to all of our parents and community members who help us at school—in the canteen, reading, transporting students, book covering, teaching scripture, making pottery, playing sport, running clubs and many other activities.

Ocean Shores Arts Expo Congratulations to the students who entered the Arts Expo. We have some very talented artists. There were entries by: Rose Eadie, Layla Cargill-Strong, Amy Ross and Taylah McKenzie (Kindergarten); Connor Callaghan, Abel Ryan, Mack Mam-mone and Shara De Costa (Year 1); April Lilleyman, Marcus Hannon and Georgia Hayes (Year 2); Angela Bower and Hayley Hadffenden (Year 3); Ethan Diehm, Michael Haffend-

fen, Marlow Dingle-Johnson (Year 4); Anjelica Langton, Jack Rutter, Joey Dillon, Seriah Steel and Jas-mine Whetstone (Year 5); and Lara O’Connell, Brooke Hambly and Selena Collinson (Year 6). Awards were given to:- Seriah Steel, Anjelica Langton, Jack Rutter, Mack Mammone, Connor Callaghan, Jasmine Whetstone, Marlow Dingle-Johnson, Lara O’Con-nell and Taylah McKenzie who was awarded 2nd place. Thank you to everyone who ‘had a go.’ Cheryl Tyler

Patty Cake Day The P & C is holding a Patty Cake Day this Friday,2nd October, 2009. Funds raised will subsidise the Healthy Harold visit next term. Patty cakes will be on sale at re-cess. This Friday is free dress. Please send a plate of patty cakes along with your child. It would be helpful if you could send them in a container that is labelled with your child’s name. We need helpers to help set up the cake stall and to supervise at re-cess. Please see Carolyn Reynolds or the front office if you can help.

Seasons for Growth We have completed 6 sessions of Seasons for Growth with students in Stage 2 & Stage 3. The last 2 ses-sions will be held after the holidays — Monday of Week 1 and Week 2. I thank the students for their atten-dance and contribution to ‘Seasons.’ Cheryl Tyler (Co-ordinator)

Late Arrivals We are required, by law, to keep accurate records. When a student arrives late to school it is essential that they collect a late slip from the office before entering the class. Thank you.

Disco Fun Students enjoyed the disco last week. Teachers and parents en-joyed watching all the fun. Thank you to Tim Wild for donating his time and equipment which made the disco possible. Thank you to Mr

Bigg and the SRC for organising the night. $563.00 was raised which will go towards a range of student initiatives.

Spelling Champs Congratulations to Daniel Thiele and Bella Lynch who were representa-tives at yesterday’s Spelling Bee held at Centaur Public School. Daniel, who came 8th overall, was eliminated on the word ‘ornithology’ and Bella on the word ‘procession’ Well done Daniel and Bella!

Kindergarten had a special visitor this morning

when Reese’s dad brought in a pet lamb.
